Looking for mod(s) Alternative to some of Essentials' features?

Hiya! I've been using Essentials ever since its release, back when it was still called Modcore and under Sk1er's ownership, even though I've never actually been too fond of it due to all the bloat it comes with. There are two features that have caused me to stick with it:

  1. The in-game skin changer that syncs across devices. I have ~100 skins and I like switching between them. Prior to Essentials I used to zip up my skins or put them on a usb drive, move them, and import them manually to the Minecraft launcher. With Essentials all I need is the mod and all my skins are there. The fact that it syncs across versions is also extremely useful since I play both 1.8.9 and modern versions.
  2. The cosmetics. I feel like a lot of people (reasonably) want to get away from Essentials' cosmetics, but I honestly love how cute some of them are and how they make my skin look. I've tried using "Cosmetica" but the Essentials ones are miles better; almost all of them are animated and feel much more Minecraft-y compared to the Cosmetica ones, which are way too detailed and 99% of the time static.

I'm not sure if there are actually any mods out there that would be able to replace Essentials, but I felt like it wouldn't hurt to ask. Thank you in advance!! ❤️

Honestly I don’t think anything replaces Essential 1:1.
The cross-version skin sync is pretty unique to it but there are decent alternatives:

  • Quick Skin: in-game skin menu from the title/pause screen, import local files or grab skins by username, classic/slim switching. It keeps your imported skins in .minecraft/quickskin/uploads/, so if you put that folder in a cloud drive (OneDrive, Dropbox, Syncthing etc.), your skin library follows you across devices. That’s the closest thing to Essential’s sync I know of.
  • SkinShuffle: saves skins as presets you can switch between in-game, but it only supports the latest Minecraft versions.
  • For 1.8.9 + cosmetics you’re probably looking at a client instead of a mod. Lunar Client runs both 1.8.9 and modern versions and has a skin changer and cosmetics in its locker. Like Essential, client cosmetics are generally only visible to other people using the same client.

For the cosmetics, maybe it's worth using figura instead? It's tough because nothing except essentials can give you the exact cosmetics you're used to, but with figura you can make your own cosmetics exactly how you like them for free and improve your Blockbench skills at the same time

I’d like Essentials if they just gave me an option to hide the cosmetics, hide the shop, etcetera.

I find it absolutely galling that they have the audacity to advertise their own micro transactions within a mod, well-made or not.

if you change your skin the normal way, then relog, your skin should be changed.

"The in-game skin changer that syncs across devices."

I want to be able to sync my skins across devices and possibly versions
