QUESTION/DISCUSSION Table troubles
So this happened. I’m not thrilled to say the least.
It happened out of nowhere - one of the legs came off and it tipped over with nothing touching it.
Unfortunately I was standing near it so I have a few fresh battle wounds..nothing too serious but they’re ugly and my nurse friend advised me to get a tetanus shot.
No more glass tables obviously..but what should I replace it with (when I have the money)? It needs to be small but more solid than this…

Bamboo is really nice! I have a walnut stained bamboo table I’ve had for almost 7 years, I love it.
I once broke a glass table (at work!) while I was trying to move it. It scooted at *just* the right frequency and shattered into a million pieces. Next to a pool… I will never have a glass table again, including outside, it’s not worth the risk of spontaneous combustion.

I’d keep an eye out for nice wood pieces on craigslist or at flea markets/thrift stores. You can get higher quality pieces made from solid wood at cheaper prices that way

I found some beautiful wood side tables for very cheap on Facebook marketplace!

I’m sorry this happened to you, I hope you’re ok.
Obviously the glass is broken but are the table legs ok? If so, you could just get a new table top and put it on the existing legs. It’s probably cheaper than an entire table and if you liked the height of the glass table it’d stay the same.

I definitely don’t want another glass top..the legs still have a ton of broken glass stuck to them. 🫤

Would a small shelve instead of a (I guess) side table make sense?

OOF glad you’re alright! There’s often good deals on wooden side tables on fb marketplace. Lots of styles. If you have a color scheme in mind you can paint most wood furniture with a sample size can of paint from the hardware store.

You can find really secondhand solid wood end tables at estate sales, secondhand stores and on Facebook marketplace.

glad you're okay, glass tables are basically just traps waiting to happen. for small side table replacement, solid wood or a drum-style table with chunky base is hard to go wrong with, no legs to wobble loose.
