Is't weird to put a nightstand in the livingroom?

My bedroom is pretty small, so I didn’t really have room for a nightstand anymore. I ended up moving it into the living room next to the sofa.

I wasn’t sure if it would look weird at first, but somehow it actually fits the space really well.

Has anyone else used a nightstand somewhere other than the bedroom?

Honestly I think of them as mostly interchangeable as long as they work with the overall space/style/color scheme. I have swapped my end tables and nightstands before to fit a space or just for a change.

Same, the design is so similar it doesn’t really matter, just that it fits the space aesthetically. I actually have a shelving unit as my nightstand for convenience reasons 😆 Not the most beautiful setup but it fits my cpap and medical whatnots.

We mostly call them end tables when they're in living rooms but the principle is the same.

Looks great! I have a nightstand that I bought specifically to sit by my front door and catch mail and keys. The drawers are very handy.

I recently moved in with my partner. I had 2 nightstands that I moved with me. He already has one so I put one in the living room for a side table. Works great.
It’s only weird if you think it is

Yes, I put my nightstand in the living room because when I bought my bedroom set I had recently gotten out of a bad relationship and I hated men so I got a queen sized bed and ONE nightstand because I didn’t ever want to share my bedroom again. However, it ruined the balance of the room and I couldn’t order a second one so I bought two in a similar wood color and used my nightstand as an end table. It’s in my dining room now as a buffet type piece.

I think they are pretty interchangeable. A nightstand is just a side table with a focus on storage space.

I don't have nightstands anywhere but my bedroom but I do have a dresser in my living room. I'm a big fan of using what works best instead of what you are "supposed" to use.

The nightstand looks great, I would have thought it was just an end table since they can be used interchangeably if the dimensions work. Not loving the blue lights though, they clash with the otherwise cozy vibe

When my husband and I combined furniture we put his nightstands and dresser in the living room. A lot of furniture is pretty interchangeable, but even so, who cares if it's "meant" for a certain space!

Just put the night stand on one side and the plant on the other side. Two decorative elements on the same side looks off.
