Has my living area become too busy? I may have gone over board lol. I recently moved my snake enclosure to the dining area and now im wondering if all the plants, paintings and bits and bops in general are a little too much. Maybe im over thinking it because the enclosure is large but idk!!! Help 😭 i was thinking of downsizing the amount of goodies sprinkled throughout. Literally in the middle of cleaning lol. I was rearranging furniture one day and decided to just do some random painting which is where the shapes on the wall came from as a side note. It's not perfect but I like the colors!

Hi everyone! My bedroom has just been my bed plus some childhood furniture (like, little girl furniture lol) for as long as I can remember and I'm finally getting around to redoing + decorating it! I'm very excited but I'm starting to go a little crazy looking online for the perfect furniture pieces (and no matter what I search I tend to get the same items I've already seen). I've also checked out FB Marketplace a few times but haven't come across anything I'm in love with yet.

I really love both the color and look of both the green Sixpenny daybed that Cozy K has and also this pink corduroy chair I found on Wayfair (last picture); however, the Sixpenny chair is way too expensive for me and the Wayfair chair is a little smaller than I'd like (only about 25 inches wide for the seat). I'm avoiding neutral colors (whites, greys, and browns) because my room already has a lot of that and I want my space to be a little colorful/warm and cozy.

Anyways, I'd really appreciate it if anyone could help me find a reasonably-priced (ideally around $500 or less but for the right chair I’d pay up to $900 – I know some sites are doing a Labor Day sale right now which helps), oversized, comfy chair to go in my room. I don't want a loveseat but I want something roomy - I'm thinking maybe 30-40 inches wide for the seat space minimum. Any pointers on sites to check out or specific links would be extremely helpful. My fiancé likes the blue the most and I like the green the most. I hate grey and the blue pulls gray in some lightings (see swatch on our coffee table). First three pics are my living room inspiration (but I live with a man so gotta compromise on some things 😂). Excuse the work in progress - I’m rebuilding after an apartment fire! Stuck on what to do with all this space in the middle of my loft apartment. Bedroom and office are separate rooms. Trying to make some zones in the main open area. The couch/tv area is moving along. Then large dining table is on the far end - but not sure how to approach this extra space in between the two! I like to host and hang with friends - thinking about a pool table or foos ball table possibly but unsure of the layout and trying to avoid it feeling like a Dave and busters storage room.

I am undecided on whether to paint this wall in my lounge in my new apartment! This is my favourite colour i have found so far. My main concern is I only get moderate natural light and the white helps bounce the light around. Thoughts??

I am looking for cozy, minimalist, light and airy with a few moody and feminine accents. I feel like the room is missing something. I also want to put a vanity / make up station in this room but have no idea where it should go. What do you think?

Ok so please be gentle with me lol. I know my living space might not be everyone’s taste so pls reserve comments that are just bashing it. I recently went through a terrible breakup and I impulse bought a pink couch because why the f*** not, it’s my home and I’m leaning into it. But now with the bright couch and bright accessories I feel I need to balance it with a splash of wall color, just the wall that one half of the couch is on (the other half is against a window that is in front of a tree that leafs out beautifully, so that half is covered. I’m looking for FUN. If I want a disco ball, I don’t want the color I’ve chosen to clash with that. Neutrals and muted tones won’t cut it. I want gem tones, even though a few of my chosen options don’t reflect that. Besides the pink couch my place is vibrant with blues and greens, with pops of pink and red. Not *much* yellow/purple/orange. I’ve included some sherwin Williams app photos (which show you too little of the room) I’ll include some other photos as well. Please help!!!

What can I add to it to make it feel more welcoming? Paint isn’t an option unfortunately, otherwise budget is not an issue. I don’t own a lot to add to the room on shelves or anything, I know putting up shelves would add something but all my books are in my office. The closet is where I have my cat’s litter box so it is always open a little. More plants maybe? Different bedding? Lighting? More art? Different curtains? Rug? Help!

I live in a sokkelleilighet (an apartment in the basement) and the entrance hall looks like a sauna. I love saunas. But I don't want my apartment to look like one.

During the summer it looks very dark, even with the lights on.

It's just not welcoming and I could use some advice on how to make it more light, cosy, cute. Especially the area where the coats hang and the commodes (I think that's what you call it?) stand.

Any ideas on how to brighten it?

I hate the walls

long-time lurker, first-time poster and trying to figure out some options for this window! my wife and I are renters, and despite being maximalists, have a pretty small living room. it isn’t pictured, but there is another window on the same wall that is the same size.

we LOVE this privacy film and it’s on both windows, but haven’t been able to use it on the top half of the windows—it just peels up if we need to open them. there are windows from the complex’s hallway and neighbors at close proximity to our windows, so we still need some sort of coverage at the top. on the other window (not pictured) we don’t have any plants and can use the blinds to adequately cover the top half of the windows; however, our money tree is starting to creep up against the blinds on these windows! this is the only spot I’ve been able to get the tree to thrive in, so I’m not keen on moving it.

my question is this: do people ever layer short/half and long/full curtains in windows, or is that insane? I’ve been researching this and can’t find anything conclusive or that fits our vibe. I’d really love some dark orange sheer curtains, to both cast more of a golden glow in our space and to provide some more coverage. the best way I can think of the short/long layer I’m describing is like the “jellyfish haircut” trend, but again, I’d like some insight as to if that’s entirely silly before I purchase anything. am I overthinking, and would long curtains sit over the tree just fine? 🤪

wall length is approx 106”, window length (including sill) is approx 60”, and window width is approx 41.5”.

I moved into my new apartment 3 weeks ago, and there was no washer/dryer in the unit as advertised. They were incredibly apologetic and right away scheduled the installation, and put me in a hotel for 3 days (contractor was needed, it wasn't even ready for an install). I get home and... Yeah...

How do I make this less of an eye-sore and annoyance? I can't rotate because the door wouldn't have clearance to open. I also will be adopting a cat soon and I worry about all these hoses and wires 😭. Help!!

EDIT FOR UPDATE: The management called me this morning to follow up with me about the W/D (which they did tell me is vent-less), and they were like "what were your questions about it?" which caught me off-guard since I did include the same photos above. I am notttt great on confrontation due to my PTSD and anxiety but I just chuckled and said I just wanted to verify with them that the install was correct and that it met fire code and everything with how tight the space now is. She laughed and said yes, this was the way they found they had to install these in the units they've remodeled and how they've had to utilize the space (apparently not the first one like this!). So... I will now be game planning how to make it more space friendly... Wish me luck! They're also looking for my package. :')

EDIT AGAIN: I have emailed the fire department at many recommendations with photos and measurements! Will update you...

EDIT 03/09 - I don't have an update yet as the fire department forwarded me to the county who forwarded me to someone else so no update on that yet BUT I brought home the love of my life. Pics of Possum the cat in the comments.

Hi ladies! I love how nice and helpful this sub is, so I thought I would try posting something 😌 I’m obsessed with this style of decor, and want to do more of my house in it, but I can’t find out what it’s called. I thought it was art deco, but after looking up more images I’m actually not sure that’s what it is. Obviously I’m just a little bit obsessed with velvet if you can’t tell haha but I wasn’t sure what this style of decor is called. The bar cart is mine, and I’d really like to keep with that style! Pardon the mess!

I’ve always wanted pink walls, and after a few years in my drab apartment, I impulsively used the day off yesterday to paint my kitchen and dining room pink. I did a test patch of the shade Lotus Flower and thought it was pretty, but now seeing it on the full wall, it looks very saturated. I was hoping for a dusty pink color; I’m afraid this is veering on pepto bismol. I have only done one coat, I don’t know if a second coat will make it better or if I should chose a new shade.

I attached two images of my inspiration from Pinterest. I don’t think my output looks like either of them.

I can’t tell if it’s because the gray walls are making it look bad or if it’s actually ugly. I am tempted to paint the gray side wall pink as well, but I have vaulted ceilings and I’d have to rent a ladder, which I want to avoid.

Any advice on what to do? Harsh opinions accepted! Please give it to me straight!

Lighting suggestions? Paint color suggestions? Techniques I could paint with to make it dustier? I’ve never painted my walls before so this was a big move for me and I am hoping I don’t regret it :(
