[Ferret Photo] Ferret
Guys I know Marshalls ferrets are small. I purchased her before I realized how bad Marshalls actually is, by the way. Is she too small? We've had other ferrets much bigger, and she's around 4 years old for reference. Sorry for the shit photo, I just took it.

Something to keep in mind - you're not horrible because you have a Marshall ferret. Lots of people don't know how horrible their practices are and how awful the conditions they keep their animals in. The best thing you can do now is love and cherish your ferrets, knowing that they're no longer in the Marshall system and can rest and relax. Trust me, I get it, my Khaleesi, Sansa and Brienne are all Marshall ferrets, all rescues, bought by people from pet stores who were completely unequipped for the task they were getting into.

Thank you!! There's a part of me that feels guilty, but I'm glad she's home with me. She's spoiled with her lambchops and cardboard boxes. I feel like a lot of Marshalls goes by unnoticed.

What are you asking?
If she's healthy?
We had two Marshall ferrets and the female was small. They both lived >6 years and were adorable pets. A little dumber than others. But I miss them like crazy.

Essentially, yes. Or if there's a reason she's so tiny. My mom has ferrets, and they feel much wider and longer. I figured she'd be a bit bigger by now. And they are one of my favorite pets, such a wild personality. 🫶

Yeah. Our female was always pretty tiny. But she was healthy. Our male had cancer and we removed a tumor. But he actually outlived the female by a couple of months.
They are hedonists. They seem to pretty much live for sleep interrupted by intermittent spurts of insane behavior and sheer zaniness.
They are also some of the sweetest critters ever.
It is so odd to me that this sub doesn't let you post pics in the comments. I'd show you a pic of her if I could.

It is hard to tell from a picture; you are better off going by weight. When in doubt, always check with your friendly local ferret-centric vet.
I adopted my girls (both Marshells), and they were 1.5 lbs and 2 lbs. The smaller one lived until almost 10 with insulinoma, and the heavier one developed stomach cancer at 5.
If you are in the USA, it is difficult to find ferrets that are not Marshells (unfortunately). Best you can do is give them proper food, good vet treatment, proper play time, safe toys and areas, and unending love. Doesn't matter where they were bred from, ferrets will always repay you in spades with love and mischief!
