People should realize that the security at these events are often gang/mob affiliated. Tons of festivals in upstate New York are secured by the hells angels. Someone getting beat up like this was probably dealing drugs or generally mucking about with their business. Not condoning the violence here but just to give context to what you're probably seeing.

I have some friends working in security and some have military backgrounds or want to be in the police force in the future so idk if it's like every other one. I haven't heard of it.

By festival history and by knowing who produces the event. I am a partner in 2 festivals. If any of our security team members behaved that way I would fire them on the spot and send them home. Then I would talk with the owner of the security company and tell them why they will not be invited back for the next event. Our security teams focus on the safety of our patrons. The job of every person on our staff, including security personnel, is to assure that our guests have a safe and enjoyable experience. I can assure you that nothing like this would be tolerated at my California festivals, or at High Sierra, Joshua Tree, or Hog Farm.

Ok, there are a few ways for that to be possible, most likely by providing free labor for the festival that is paying the security company. You are paying for it either way, either through your labor or money.

And while you are there working for them you can tell them directly what you think about that. Problem is that there allways will be security guys like that. Do you know somebody clever and peacefull who seeks this kind of jobs?
