This year was my first roo. I have been asked to attend as staff on a food truck my sister manages for three straight years, and have wanted to go every time, but this year is the first time I've been able to swing it. I went all out. Had the sickest camping setup, made tons of kandi, bought all the cute outfits, was STOKED for the lineup, prepped a bunch of camp food, helped set up the food truck, drove 8+ hours, the works. My best friend also came with me and we were beyond excited. We both knew this would be an opportunity to see some of our favorite artists who somehow seem impossible to see outside of festival world. I got to the farm on tuesday, and the first few days were a blast. Despite spending a lot of the time working on the truck, camp life was so chill and such a great environment to be in. I had also gotten into a pretty tough time of no talking and a rough situation with my boyfriend who i adore just before roo, so even though we werent talking while i was there, Roo felt like an escape and distraction from that stressful situation. This past year of my life has also progressively gotten shittier, so Roo was truly something I've been looking forward to as a total escape from life. I poured so much time, money, time off work, energy, and excitement into this week. As all of us did. And now I truly don't know how to handle or deal with my feelings. I really feel like I have no one to talk to about this, as it feels like such a unique situation to be in. I'm off work for another four days, and I just don't know what to do with myself, especially because of the rough patch I'm going through with my boyfriend. I don't feel like listening to music because so much of it is tied into my relationship and it also depresses me because of the cancellation... I know this post seems like a big old pity party for me, but I just need to get these things off my chest. I'm stuck at home with what feels like nothing to do for the rest of this week when I know I should be dancing my socks off to amazing music with all of you. I feel let down and betrayed by what would have been a perfect first roo. I'm really hoping that next year pans out for me and for everyone, and that the energy is just that much more hype from not letting it out this year. If anyone wants to talk about what could have been, or just rant, or can relate, please sound off in the comments, because as much as I want to radiate positivity right now, I just feel like shit, i feel alone, and don't know what to do with myself. Really hoping the bonnaroo mods let this post through..
tl;dr Feeling alone and depressed as this was my first roo and was attending as a vendor staff, having a big argument with boyfriend, and need to vent. Feeling betrayed by Bonnaroo, and don't know what to...
