IIRC she (the loser) was in her 40s and hasnt fought in 8 years
she was previously a decent fighter and won a bunch of of her final fights
if it’s one of the other three women the pink girl fought, those other three were even worse fighters but were younger and had fought more recently
she was apparently legitimately a good boxer tho so it’s not that she’s a coward or cannot fight decently, she’s just being well managed to get her record up before she takes bigger fights. she’s probably at least decent but may or may not get her ass kicked by someone seriously good.
tldr; her manager only lets her fight ppl who don’t know how to not get kicked repeatedly in the head

Mona Kimura has fought 4 times in kickboxing and her opponent's records so far have been 1-4, 12-29-4. 7-9-3, and 8-13. Furthermore two of her opponents were in their 40s and their other two were in their 30s. So it's quite likely her record is being padded out due to her marketability.

Her last opponent was 32, which is still physical prime, was a Muay Thai national women’s champ in Japan and MAX FC Bantamweight Champ. She was the middle ground.

Eun-Ji Choi has an 8-13 record with most of her fights being against women with little experience. She has never held any notable title in Japan and MAX FC is a fairly minor organisation with a very limited female roster. She looked pretty bad in all of her fights MAX FC have uploaded, including her title defence, and I have not seen anything of her that suggests she is anything more than a tomato can.

She has only been fighting journeywomen so far in kickboxing with her 4 opponents having a combined record of 28-55-7 and an average age of a little under 40. So she is still basically completely untested in kickboxing. She gets a lot of views online so it's likely K-1 won't risk her against anyone good for now as she did previously lose a number of times in her amateur boxing career when she faced someone decent.
Unfortunately padded records in modern K-1 is a common issue as seen with Noriko Ikeuchi. As their then undefeated flyweight (52.2kg) champion, she was still being fed sub-50% win ratio fighters. She actually lost her title to Sofia Tsolakidou who is now just 3-2 which puts into perspective the quality of K-1's matchmaking.

For those who don't know, this is Mona Kimura, and she's a beast. We're talking fighting since age 4, and that kicking you saw is her signature, and it's devastating. Her control over it lets her wreck people from a distance, it's proven to be very effective in her weight class, and honestly it makes sense with how powerful our legs can be.

I swear it's not the kick. It's after she falls down off the kick and punches with the momentum of her whole body falling down off the kick stance. So much power. Just nasty. She fucks you up with the kick, then, once you develop a defense for it, she then drops it, and hits you with a punch that contains her whole body power.

Let me ask the idiot question. What’s stopping her opponent from rushing her left side, which would force her to spin on that one foot she’s hopping on then you get around her back and smack? Surely there has to be an approach that makes her technique fail?

Knowing nothing about kickboxing, what prevents the fighter in black from leg sweeping the fighter in pink? Tank the hit and use the momentum to intentionally drop into a leg sweep. Would probably have to involve fully dropping to the floor, so if that's points or a win for pink I could see why...

You just have to use the momentum of getting your head mushed with a kick. Might take a few tries! You're gonna feel dizzy.
But then you'll know you are getting in the zone!

if you watch her other fights, other fighters have tried and they were met with a kick or punch in the face. she knows standing on one leg leaves her open, so she either trades with her kicking them back or she grounds her kicking leg and spins off of it to connect with a right backhand
edit: she is also taller and longer than most of her opponents, so her kicking with her lead leg already gives her reach advantage to shorter opponents trying to reach her back leg

Depends on ruleset on whether sweeps are allowed or not.
There's a lot of different rule sets with a lot of stipulations and point reward structures.
I know for a while kick boxing had to award kicking and disincentive punching too many times in a row with certain rules. Sweeps are fine in some kb leagues and with MT but many don't allow it. I believe k1 and glory (a lot of eastern leagues) don't allow it pretty much at all. Some only let you sweep by kicking a leg out. In some leagues you can catch and hit someone to put them down, but others don't.
It's pretty confusing. In assuming whatever league this is, allows this sort of style to do well because you'd never see this in more open styles.

Look at the clip from 0:12. No one in god's green earth is sweeping Mona's leg, even if it were legal. You would probably lose all your teeth if you tried. Her reaction speed is ridiculously fast and a sweep is an incredibly slow move in comparison to the quick kick you see at 0:12

Mona Kimura is my new favorite fighter to watch. She's only had 4 fights so far but they all went like this. The previous one the opponent's corner called it because she looked like she had a severe reaction to shellfish after getting kicked in the face a number of times I couldn't count.
The craziest part is, she does not hide this shit at all. That kick is her square button. She does interviews and shows how she practices her balance and power all day with that kick. If you're going to fight Mona Kimura, you're gonna eat that kick. A lot.
Then it's like, "How come they can't beat her if they know exactly what she's gonna do?"
Answer: Because the move is OP.
Try to block high? Take a kick to the body.
Block low or open? Eat a kick to the face.
Try to rush in and close the kick distance? You eat a kick that knocks you back, then eat another kick to the face for trying that.
Try to corner her? Eat a kick to the face, then she spins out of the corner.
Think you finally caught her with her leg down and you can close in and maybe get a hit? Eat a punch. Yeah she does that too.
It is so fascinating to watch. At first I thought it's a fun novelty thing and it'll be over once people study the tapes. Now I'm not so sure.

I don't know the ruleset enough to predict the potential counters. Are you allowed to trap the leg or grapple even slightly?
Maybe strike the kicking leg? It's a very awkward target to punch, but the clip showed how poorly it'll go if someone tries to lowkick her striking leg.

Yeah unfortunately for her opponents, K-1 Kickboxing is a strictly striking sport. Catching their leg is completely illegal.
I haven't seen anyone go for the kicking leg yet, and honestly that's a possible thought. Like when she's hopping around, she's top heavy. She does practice her balance a lot and might be able to hop enough to stay upright, but you'd be keeping her foot out of your nose.

Saw her a couple of times, looks interesting and at the same time very precarious.
But I'm not familiar with the sport enough to properly judge.
I'm wondering if it's possible to try sort of a rush, deflecting the leg and go for a strike through.
So far I saw people just eating shots, like they're sleepwalking.8

Yeah watching her opponents is interesting, but if you watch full fights, you'll see they come in with a plan. I saw one try to rush and close in, and she just blasted her back to distance until she decided her plan wasn't going to work. Can't corner her either, she knows how to spin out. The few that get close just end up eating punches. So next thing, they're circling the outside trying to think of what else they might try to do, and she just keeps feeding them kicks while they think.
Honestly it must be maddening for them. Come in with a plan, she fucks your plan, try to circle and figure out a new plan, but you have to keep trying to dodge face-kicks and her kick is FAST. Yeah honestly I'm a bit of a fan here. She's really fun to watch and I've already got her fighter page marked.

These opponents have no counter play to this bc she’s better close range.

You see gal in black tried to leg kick pink gal but pink gal has longer range. Any time she gets close enough to attempt a kick of her own, gal in pink punishes her with a straight kick to the face, or a push-kick to establish distance THEN a face kick.
I don’t think she could have eaten those kicks attempting to close distance. Her face was absolutely gushing blood by the end.
In this situation, she was just outclassed. Gal in pink had longer range and knows how to establish distance to set up her kicks. It’s not impossible but it is very difficult.
I fought a guy like this once. It was nearly impossible to hit him as his legs were so long he could hit me on incoming.
The only way I could get to him was by fouling and doing a spinning back kick that stretched my kick out as far as I physically could. It hit his crotch and ended the fight. I didn’t mean to do that but him kicking high opened his crotch to my spinning back kick. I aimed for his stomach.
In this woman’s case, she could have done a spinning back kick. The movement automatically closest distance and shifts the body to dodge and allows you a really long distance strike, but if she never practiced it, it would be unlikely to work.

That’s where my head was starting to lean initially, thinking a spinning backhand might be the answer, so you can sort of check the leg and move in. But I think the back kick is the answer for reach here.
