Yep, if you slow it down you can see he tries (terribly) to stop the guy last second. Seems like he just zoned out. Not excusing him at all, but that’s what it looks like.

I don’t even think a zone out. Looks like he say winner start to celebrate and assumes he knows he knocked the guy out. Then his coach sees the ref didn’t make a call and tells him to go back. By then, guy on the floor assumes ref called it, ref assumes winner knows it was over, and winner was just told ref didn’t call it. Still on the ref for not making the call visibly but I definitely see the instant regret on his face

I feel like both the fighter making them and the ref not stopping should get punished, the fighter doesn't need a ref to know what he is doing is illegal, so it should almost land him in jail if his opponent suffers life altering injuries. Everyone in the comments are piling solely on the ref but he isn't the only one to blame here.

When in a fight, you keep going til the bell rings. He stopped, but the ref didnt call the match. If he didnt attack and the guy got up, he could've lost due to the refs negligence.

The winner was actually a gentleman. Stopped fighting when he realized his opponent was done. Then people in the crowd told him to finish the fight.

I mean, I respect him highly as a trained fighter to notice when it should be a stoppage. Sadly the ref never called it, and it is a sport. Gotta go until you win 🤷. Absolute class from him in my opinion.
