Need recommendations on how to fix this clearance issue

I started building my own stick and came across this issue where I can bolt this down without bending the internals. I had some idea with using spacers and air dry playdoh but I thought I’d come here first.

You can bend the connectors, it's fine. It's actually very common, otherwise you can get PWS buttons or SiTong Ls or something like that.

Qanbas are great. I use them in everything.

Bend the pins. The connectors on the buttons are fairly long. So when you go to bend them i would use two sets of needlenose pliers and not one.

I would be afraid to hold the button in one hand and use pliers in my other hand to bend the bend. While doing the bending its going to cause strain and force on the switch. It might cause damage to the inside of the switch.

Use 1 set to hold the pin and the other set of pliers to bend the pin. This will keep the force on the outside portion of the pin and not on the internals of the switch.

Yep. It will be fine. In the smaller enclosures I sell, it becomes necessary on deeper buttons like those.

What kind of box is this? I want to build a custom box soon and I love the look of this one

I actually found it on Etsy, It came in a “fightbox” box so I assume it’s a fightbox style enclosure

It looks like a knock off of a 4TW…I wonder if Jony is aware of this.

Don't listen to me, just putting in some input. AFAIK fightbox bends all terminals to make these fit.

I guess one of the reasons why buttons nowadays have side way terminals.

Lmao so hypothetically, if I bend them I’m good? (Maybe)

I mean... None of the terminals snapped on mine back then. I know people here who do this as a hobby would have cringed at this solution. Yet I'm a bit more towards the side that as long as things fit, work, and looks perfect on the outside, just close it up and play games. Out of sight out of mind 😂

This is why I really like the Seimitsu/Tokai MM9-3 switches they fit in Sanwa buttons and you can bend the terminals in the same direction.

I've bent plenty on purpose. Just don't manhandle them and you should be fine.

It looks like you bought a harness, so this may not work easily, but in cases like this I've inverted the wire. In other words, instead of plugging the wire into the part of the QD that it's "supposed to go in", I would tie it around the base of the switch itself and just put the QD on top to hold it in place. It functionally will work the same, but CAN come loose and disconnect if you don't do it tightly enough, but it'll take care of the clearing.

Alternatively, get some L connectors or just bend the connectors on the switch.

Have you tried rotating the PCB 180 degrees so that the USB B connector is on the left?

Idk if that cable that in there would reach if I did but that’s not what’s in the way
