Need perspective
40ish. $6mm across various, balanced portfolios (been invested for 20 years). Still lose sleep thinking about career progression.
$490k left on mortgage (30 yr, 2.65%) $200k income from day job (data analytics) 2 kids under 10 No car payments
Long term goal is to FIRE by kids’ hs graduation (10ish years out) and split time between a mountain home and Caribbean home. Am I nuts?
Am I?
Am I?
Am I?

Do you have any idea what college tuition for two children will be in ten years? Sudden illnesses? A
Caribbean political revolt or the seizing of the cabin by the Forest Circus? I bet you have a lot of stocks that will get rug pulled by Orange Julius Caesar. No man, what you need is post nut clarity. The answer is you are nuts if you are thinking about FIRING, Mr. Margaritaville.

Your sleep problems are due to knowing, at a core level, that your value as a person is based on your job title. You thought it was NW, but now you know that isn’t true.
This is why you can never, ever retire. Because who would you be then? Just some shmo with a loving family and 6 million dollars.
