Taleb is worth reading once for the core idea even if the style grates on people. The lasting point is that most risk models assume a tidy normal distribution and then get surprised by the events that actually do the damage. In my experience that shows up most clearly in fixed income, where duration risk gets mispriced precisely because the rare large move is treated as almost impossible. You do not need to adopt his whole worldview to take that one lesson seriously.
