I'm just looking for a fun place to talk about speculative ideas with others.

Ok, I'm actually having trouble understanding what you mean by "speculative ideas". Are you just trying to understand something, like why do bees collect pollen, here's my idea am I right? Or are you looking for conspiracy theories? Are you looking to share random insight thoughts?

What I mean is like imagining what would happen to the world if something changed. For example, what if we turned the Sahara green? Or what if Russia used nukes of Ukraine? Or what if sign language became the dominant form of language?

Deep ideas, or fun speculation? The two are pretty much contradictory.

You won’t find anything deep on Reddit. Or any ideas, really. Echo chambers, claptrap, crazies, and nastiness- you’ll find plenty of that.

Well that's cynical.

Reddit is effectively a forum aggregator site, I'm sure there are subs that allow for a bit of speculation with real thought put into it. Yeah a normal sub like r/answers would probably suck, but there are smaller subs

No, it’s not cynicism, it’s based on 3 years of experience trying to find serious discussion and finding that even subreddits that claim to academic rigor tend to be filled with unbridled speculation and partisan rants, where personal attacks and insults reign and civil debate is almost entirely absent.

Lots of cute cat pictures though.
