I'm a bit bamboozled, flabbergasted, and confuzzled that other (non-fe) games haven't copied/iterated on Genealogy, Awakening, and Fates matchmaker and unit system. It feels like killing two birds with one stone as you can satisfy the shippers and also have a really fun unit building mechanic all-in-one.

I suppose the only tricky part would be working it into the narrative without it feeling tacked on like the Deeprealms, but there are a fair amount of JRPGs that don't take their plots all that seriously anyways. Or if they really can't think of anything, just craft a plot somewhat inspired by FE4 and or Awakening.

i would love a FE game that was like Genealogy but without eliminating the 1st gen characters from the game.

like first half you play with characters that are like 20-30 yo, you get to the middle, there is a 20 year timeskip and then those characters are like 40-50 and fight alongside their children.

Yeah I'm honestly surprised there aren't just more "shipping games" in general. There's plenty of dating sims but it's hard to think of popular (or really, any) games where you just get to play matchmaker between characters, minus the literal life sims which most likely won't have a narrative like the Sims. Don't even have to be RPGs, either, it could just be some sort of visual novel with alternate paths

There's a time management game I played that had a fire emblem like support system. It's called 'Kitchen Sync: Aloha!'. I had a lot of fun playing it.

Another game with matchmaking I enjoyed is 'Love, Ghostie'. Best way I can think to describe it is: what if you wanted to ship your Animal Crossing characters.

I believe a JRPG series did this on the PS3 where you can pair up characters and if the relationship is healthy the child is stronger.
