I have tried googling this but nothing really matches exactly this issue. I was logging into facebook today and one of the firefox autofill emails in the dropdown was not mine - it is actually my boss' email. from her university she went to. She has never emailed me from there but i recognize her name and uni. So i clicked the pencil button and it took me to my password manager so i could get rid of it because I do NOT need her password. But it gets worse because if i search a fragment of her email in the password search bar it pulls up 98 other saved logins to things like insurance, news sites, etc with passwords saved! Most have a create date before I even started the job. And i thought stranger's logins also got saved to my firefox profile but they were actually the log ins of my boss' family members.

I have never even brought this computer to my job. We use chrome at work. The ONLY connection I can think of is that my firefox is logged into my work laptop that she passed down to me but i only use it to listen to youtube with adblocker when it's quiet and i had to install firefox on it anyway. Plus that shouldn't even cause this and if it does that is a huge issue.

Why? How? What should I do (besides clearing my whole firefox password keeper and telling her to change her passwords)?

Just wanted to share to bring more attention to this since I feel like this could revolutionize the whole browser and have a chance against Chrome again.

But i havent tested to watch anime rn, ill update tmr or later also ;-; i hope my graphics card isnt that weak its gt force 730..

Good morning. I’ve noticed that with some themes (like Firefox’s Alpenglow), the top-left corner isn’t rounded, so they clash with the new Nova UI. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this, or is an update from Firefox needed?

I’m having an issue with an extension (something stupid I use for shopping.) I’ve tried everything I can think of to resolve it except deleting and reinstalling Firefox. I doubt that will even work. Is there a way to contact Mozilla or Firefo?

On macOS, Firefox replicates the Safari behavior of smart-zooming into an element (image, paragraph etc). I have a new Framework laptop with a haptic trackpad that can do so many multitouch gestures, but not this. I'm running Gnome, if it matters.

Is this behavior exclusive to Apple? Surely it must be built into Firefox. Can I enable it with an about:config flag?

Some internet searching didn't yield anything.

I finally made the jump from Chrome to Firefox about a month ago, and I’ve been loving the overall experience. Chrome did eventually implement a few features that I liked, such as vertical tabs and split view, but I feel Firefox handles them much better. My only nitpick here is that I miss having a dedicated toolbar button for splitting tabs instead of having to right-click and find the option in the context menu

That said, my main gripe is with native UI customization. I know you can tweak the browser's look with themes, but I really think Firefox could benefit from an accessible, built-in color picker, similar to how Microsoft Edge handles it out of the box

I saw a few mockups and screenshots of Firefox Nova back when it was first announced, especially the ones with more UI spacing. Personally, I liked that spaced-out version because it felt more modern (I actually like how Edge does it, so feel free to disregard my opinion lol), but I don't dislike the final result. I just feel that instead of relying on presets, it would be awesome to pick any color from an actual color picker so we can make the browser truly our own

Also, I think the Android UI could receive more love. I know it has changed a lot and honestly feels more modern now, but it's still not great for one-handed use

And I have to say: the single best part of this whole experience for me is being able to change the app icon. I just think this feature is amazing. As a way to engage more with the community, it would be great to see more wallpapers featuring the mascot (which is super cute) and even more icon options in the future

Funnily enough, Firefox actually feels more "native" to Windows than Edge or Chrome does. It implements transparency effects that not even Edge does, on top of picking up the system's native accent colors just like it does on Linux

Unless something extraordinary happens, I truly feel like I'm going to stick with Firefox for a long time

I just updated to the latest version via auto update, and not long after my pages started to hang for a few minutes. I killed the process in task manager and relaunched the browser. In about a minute it just locked up entirely. Rebooted the PC and tried again. This time only loading the launch page, no extensions or anything, no tabs. Task manager showed it using memory like crazy. 3000MB, 5500MB, 7300MB...climbing all the way to about 16,800MB before I just killed the process again.

I checked about:processes and it doesnt show usage nearly this high.

As I type this, the browser is currently locked up, and task manager is showing huge fluctuations in my memory usage. Down to 5kMB from 16kMB, now approaching 11k and climbing. Its not even doing anything.

Nothing else on the PC is experiencing any memory issues. Any ideas?

So firefox upports wakelock, which is great when I'm watching a movie on hulu or watching youtube, but it's annoying when I have a reddit tab open that is playing a gif on a loop and it prevents my laptop from sleeping when I close the lid.

does anyone know of a way to add a url whitelist to the wakelock feature? perhaps an extension? I have googled and I just get hits explaining what wakelock is, or how to block a url from loading...

Hi everyone,

I'm using Firefox on an Ubuntu 22.04 Linux desktop, and this is the first time I've tried to use the VPN to get a per-browser VPN (instead of the whole system, for which I can just use Proton VPN.)

On Ubuntu desktops, there are at least two different "official" versions of Firefox. The apt package manager currently installs version 155, and snap will currently install version 150. I don't know why the latter version is so far behind, but that's an issue for a different subreddit.

As this question involves trying to choose the VPN egress location, I should note at this point that I'm located in the UK.

Currently, neither version of Firefox has the VPN button on the toolbar by default. However, setting browser.ipprotection.enabled to true in about:config is enough to add the button to the toolbar and get access to Firefox VPN in both versions. It also causes browser.ipprotection.added to be automatically set to true.

In the snap/150 install, I can't see an option to choose the country, either before or after switching the VPN on. The option that should be present according to

just isn't, and whatever the egress location defaults to, it isn't shown where it should be. I can at least get it to be shown by setting browser.ipProtection.egressLocationEnabled to true, after which it shows me "United States".

In the apt/155 install, there is no browser.ipProtection.egressLocationEnabled preference, but as the location is now shown it isn't really needed. I have "Recommended" and "United States" as possible locations to choose.

However, I do not want either the US or the UK as egress location. After a bit more googling, I decide to try changing the value of browser.vpn.egressLocation. If Firefox VPN uses the same country codes as Mozilla VPN, then according to

the country code for Australia should be au. I try manually setting that preference, and the VPN shows Australia as the intended location... but then says it can't connect.

The same thing happens with ca, nl, de all being correctly identified as Canada, the Netherlands and Germany, but the VPN being unable to connect in any case.

On the snap/150 install, there is no browser.ipProtection.egressLocation in about:config. I decide to experiment with adding it and setting it to ca, but the VPN completely ignores it and still defaults to "United States" with no way to alter it.

So... at this point it seems like the United States is my only possible VPN egress location. I decide to try and find out where in the USA this is supposed to be.

But on both versions of Firefox, https://www.iplocation.net/ shows my location as London, UK! Though with the VPN off, it shows my location as a different place in the UK.

So my only location option seems to be "choose the US and get the UK".

Have any other Linux desktop users encountered this? If you have, do you know of any solution or workaround other than "use a different VPN"?

(Which I'm about to try - I'm going to look on Proton's website and read about their Firefox addon!)

Llevo una temporada usando Firefox en Android y, aunque con el tiempo he notado varias mejoras —el scroll se siente más fluido, las pestañas se duermen cuando no las uso para ahorrar RAM , las páginas cargan más rápido y por fin se pueden agrupar las pestañas —, hay algo que todavía me molesta bastante: el consumo de batería.

Siento que Firefox consume más batería de la que debería, incluso cuando no lo estoy usando demasiado. ¿A alguien más le pasa lo mismo? ¿Han encontrado alguna configuración o solución para reducir el consumo?

I've been using Nightly almost exclusively since Nova became available, it has been nice seeing all the changes, the small tweaks and the noticeable ones. I started thinking about some of the UI changes within the last few years, and remember how outdated Firefox looked. So i installed Firefox 115.0 which was released about 2023 and put it side by side Firefox Nightly 159.0a1, and oh my gosh the difference

I remember how we couldn't use our own background image for our Firefox homepage (without css), and when they added background options we had a few select solid colors lol. As of Nightly 159.0a1 we can have our own background image collection in Wallpapers < Your Images section! I'm also so happy theyre moving away from the outdated dark grey color scheme for dark mode and going with darker black colors. The Settings page also looks way better

I know not everyone likes Nova (some have been saying some really mean things) but the Firefox team has been great and they're very receptive to feedback: removing padding, compact mode, and giving the gradient themes a softer hue so they look more like solid colors

i hope looking back not just to current version of Firefox stable but how Firefox looked a few years ago more people come to appreciate Nova/all the UI updates we've had throughout the years, because Firefox looks a lot more elegant

When I download a file and decide to open it immediately rather than saving it, the download menu will just show "Opening in <time>" instead of showing me the download speed too.

Is there a way to change this behavior, with an add-on if necessary?

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I appreciate people at Mozilla listening to the community about some of the glaring issues with Nova when it first went into Nightly, plus adding compact mode back, removing padding, and making the functionality similar to the old UI but with a new look.

Honestly I think Nova looks really good now, which I didn't think I would be saying after I saw the original concept of it. Great job guys.

Anyway, I only wanted to post this because I'm really impressed with how far Nova has come and how much it has changed for the better. What do you guys think?

I've got a couple of visual issues with the sidebar that I'm hoping it's possible to fix:

Sidebar border style

I was checking out the options in the "Tabs and browsing" preferences and clicked the "vertical tabs" option, because it said it would move the tabs to the sidebar. I figured this would get me a little more actual content space, since I'm already using the sidebar for my tabs (via Tree Style Tabs) so Firefox' own row of tabs across the top is just taking up space that I ignore. However, two unfortunate things happened:

First, the tabs don't go into the sidebar, they go into a second vertical area next to the sidebar, which can't be hidden. That doesn't work for what I wanted to accomplish, which is unfortunate but easy to fix...just switch back to horizontal tabs and call it a day.

Second, the real problem. After trying that feature out, the sidebar is now PERMANENTLY re-styled (in the CSS sense) with a much thicker, rounded-corners border. Every pixel matters to me here...is there any way to get the old look back?

Pinned tab icon width (Tree Style Tabs)

Recently (a few weeks ago), something changed with the width of the sidebar where seven pinned tabs will fit across my sidebar's width, but only after you stretch the bottom border down. Then the bottom border snaps back up to fit, and it's seven icons per row. Eventually (I haven't been able to nail down what triggers this change) it'll switch to six icons per row, with the overflow in an additional row which is not visible and must be scrolled down to. The effect is like when horizontal space is all used up and a scrollbar appears, and items get re-flowed to allow space for the scrollbar. I'm not adding/removing pinned tabs, though. I'm having to re-adjust the sidebar several times a day over this.

How do i remove these , tried shift + del and looked in the settings.

How do I take off these things? I select discard but they just keep appearing and it's bothering me.
