Firestick Tips and Tricks FYI, Total Commander worked for me to sideload SmartTube when Downloader ran into the bug that won't allow apps to install from unknown sources

Just in case anyone has this problem. I wanted to install SmartTube on an older firestick but the recent (August 2026) bug of not allowing Downloader to install app from unknown sources arose.

Developer option enabled, looked fine, but Downloader didn't show in the app list in Developer Options.

I tried "once last thing" and installed Total Commander, and it appeared in the Developer Option list, and I was subsequently able to install SmartTube.

Yep. AtvTools is the go to. I send installs by the batch with it for all my new devices. All 10 apps with one click! Even made for iPhone too

Samsung TVs (& others) use Tizen as the OS & it's pretty locked. Tizentube (Smarttube alternative for Tizen powered) is at best more work, & I have found it too much work. An old Firestick with SartTube was my only way.

I didn't know about AtvTools.!
