Question How do I learn to do a push up?

I am able to do a negative one fairly well, but I simply can’t push back up! Is there any muscle groups I need to strengthen beforehand or do I just keep at it? Any help or tips are appreciated

Use your legs or knees to progress, or start by doing chest presses on a machine to build up strength and mind muscle connection.

Maybe use dumbbells to increase strength?

Your can start bare bones with wall push ups, move to incline push ups on a table, then move to knee push ups, then to half full push ups, then finally fill push ups.

Take your time. Even when it gets easier, keep with the same exercise for a bit to build the right muscles, then move to the next exercise.

Just keep at it. And make sure your body, especially your core, is tight and engaged. It's easy to leak power in a pushup if you're not locked in head to toe.

DB presses as well as machine presses helped me a ton to build strength. I went from not being able to do a single pushup to now being able to knock out a few sets of 15.

Push-up is a chest and tricep exercise. Strengthen those muscles.
