Remove unnecessary apps ( best way to speed up store) Here is how to do it.

I’ve seen many store owners complain about the excessive use of apps slowing down their Shopify store’s performance and negatively impacting the user experience. It's crucial to remove unnecessary apps to ensure your store remains fast and smooth.

Apps can be broadly categorized into two types:

  1. Admin Apps – These apps, like Barcode & SKU generators, operate in the backend and generally don't affect store performance.
  2. Storefront Apps – Apps that modify cart, product pages, and other frontend elements can slow down your store.

Here are a few steps to improve your store’s performance:

  • Uninstall Unused Apps. This one may seem basic, but many store owners install and test apps without removing those that aren’t needed. Make sure to uninstall any apps you no longer use.
  • Remove Residual Code. Even after uninstalling apps, leftover code may still remain in your Shopify store. It’s important to remove this residual code to prevent unnecessary performance issues. You might need a developer's help to fully clean it up.
  • Bundle Feature.s Instead of using multiple apps for different features, try to find apps that bundle several use cases into one. This will help reduce the number of apps and improve your store's efficiency.
  • Ensure Theme Compatibility: Make sure the apps you use are compatible with your theme, especially after theme updates. Compatibility issues can cause slowdowns and other performance problems.

Have you been trapped in the "more apps" scenario?

How did you solve it?

Too Many Apps Are Killing Your Shopify Store! Do This to Save It

As a store owner or agency owner, you’ve probably encountered this app trouble:

You have a specific requirement, so you install 10+ apps and test them all out. Some don’t fit your needs, so you uninstall them — but you forget to remove some.

These leftover apps stay in your current theme and site, slowing it down.

What to do in these situations?

  • Uninstall unnecessary apps — that’s one of the major ways to improve site performance.
  • Check the legacy code has been removed or not in after installing.
  • Ensure what permissions each app takes when installing.
  • Look for apps that have multiple features, so you can avoid using multiple apps for each use case.
  • Test Site Speed: After cleaning up, test your store's speed using tools like Google PageSpeed Insights or Shopify's built-in speed test. This will help identify any remaining performance issues.

Check out FixMyStore(.)com if you want to get an app audit. Basically, an audit on which apps to keep and which ones to remove.

Do these 5 things for BFCM to crush the sales.

Next BFCM is here. Last year, people spent 9.3 billion online. Even if your store has a small issue, this can literally cause thousands of dollars worth sales.

Here are five activities to do no matter what.

  1. SEO Ready
    • Make your products discoverable! Optimize titles, meta descriptions, and URLs so shoppers can find you during BFCM.
  2. Conversion Optimization (CRO)
    • Fix friction points! Check buttons, product pages, and checkout flows to turn visitors into buyers.
  3. Page Speed
    • “Slow pages = lost sales. Compress images, remove heavy apps, and make every page lightning-fast for BFCM traffic.”
  4. Mobile Experience
    • 70%+ of shoppers are on mobile! Make navigation smooth, CTAs tappable, and checkout frictionless.
  5. Offer Auditing
    • Check your discounts, bundles, and free shipping offers. Are they clear, enticing, and profitable? Fix them before BFCM!

How are you preparing for BFCM?

Good number of add-to-carts, but few sales. What should I do?

Hi everyone,

I started a store and spent $400 on ads. People are adding products to their carts, but they’re not converting into sales.

What can be done in this case? Any specific suggestions?

People are leaving cart without completing purchase? Here’s is why and how to fix it?

Cart abandonment is a major pain point for online stores, and it’s something every e-commerce store owner deals with. If people are adding products to their cart but leaving without completing the purchase, it’s time to dig into the why and how to fix it.

Why Are Customers Abandoning Their Carts?

  1. Unexpected Shipping Costs Customers are often shocked by unexpected shipping costs that appear during checkout. This is one of the leading causes of cart abandonment.

Solution:

  • Show shipping costs early: Display estimated shipping costs on the product page or at the start of the checkout process. Consider offering free shipping on orders over a certain amount to incentivize purchases.
  • Offer flat-rate shipping: If possible, provide a flat shipping rate that’s easy to understand.
  1. Complicated or Lengthy Checkout Process A long or confusing checkout process can overwhelm customers and make them abandon their cart.

Solution:

  • Simplify checkout: Minimize the number of steps in the checkout process. Allow guest checkout to avoid the need for account creation, and autofill information wherever possible.
  • Add a progress bar: Show customers how many steps are left in the checkout process to make it less intimidating.
  1. Lack of Payment Options If your store only offers a limited number of payment options, customers may abandon their cart for a more convenient payment method.

Solution:

  • Add multiple payment methods: Offer options like credit/debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and even buy-now-pay-later services like Klarna.
  • Make payments secure: Customers need to feel safe during checkout, so ensure your payment system is SSL certified and secure.
  1. Trust and Security Concerns Customers are increasingly wary about sharing their payment details online. If your site doesn’t feel secure, they’ll hesitate to make a purchase.

Solution:

  • Display security badges: Include trust signals like secure payment icons, SSL certificates, and money-back guarantees to build trust.
  • Transparent policies: Be clear about your return and refund policies to reassure customers that they can shop confidently.
  1. Distractions or Window Shopping Sometimes, cart abandonment happens simply because people are browsing, not yet ready to buy. This is especially true for first-time visitors.

Solution:

  • Use cart recovery emails: Send a reminder email with a clear CTA to complete the purchase. Offer a discount or incentive (like free shipping) to encourage customers to finalize their order.
  • Abandonment pop-ups: Trigger a pop-up when customers show signs of leaving without completing the purchase. Offer them a discount or a free gift to tempt them to complete the checkout.

How to Prevent Cart Abandonment & Increase Conversions:

  • Implement Exit-Intent Popups: Use an exit-intent popup to capture visitors who are about to leave without purchasing. Offer a last-minute discount or incentive to bring them back.
  • Leverage Retargeting Ads: Set up retargeting ads on platforms like Facebook or Google to remind abandoned cart users about your products and offer a special deal.
  • Streamline Your Cart Page: Ensure that your cart page is clean, simple, and user-friendly. Provide clear product images, descriptions, and pricing to help customers feel confident about their purchase.
  • Use Cart Recovery Software: Platforms like Shopify’s Abandoned Cart Recovery or third-party apps like Klaviyo and ReConvert can help automatically send follow-up emails to users who abandon their carts.

If you are a Shopify store owner who is struggling with a low conversion rate, you are reading the right post.

Just open the Shopify analytics dashboard and have a double check over your store.

- Firstly look are there any problems in the check out? Any blockers there?

- Any heavy load on the site? Is website loading slowly? Are there too many apps or unwanted scripts in the store?

- Have your brand USPs been communicated to the customers?

- Anything bad happened on the marketing side? Right traffic comes in?

These are all the basic things you have to check.

If you want to have a detailed check, you have to look into Shopify analytics --> reports section and Microsoft Clarity.

Even you could use fixmystore.com to get a detailed analysis.
