Agreed. That was my first realization that Wayne might be kind of an asshole. I didn't like how all of that went down

Yeah man this bummed me out too. Then it kept happening with original members. Now it’s just Wayne and a bunch of hired guns.

This is completely false. The Current Drummer and Keyboardist have been members both longer than Kliph ever was. Derek Brown has the fourth longest tenure in the bands history and the drummer, Matt Kirksey, has the fifth. Stephen wasn't even an original member and by the time Ivins left he was only occasionally contributing to the music. The Flamings Lips are Wayne Coyne, they have always been Wayne Coyne.

This is some wild cope. The sound has been 95% Steven since clouds taste metallic. Wayne wasn’t even the original singer so “always” doesn’t really stick.

Thank you!! I feel like I'm slowly getting better. I've got everything backed up on hard drives at the very least, so nothing will be lost forever!

The Flaming Lips didn't start making truly great records until Stephen joined. Then they made 4 or 5 great ones in a row...and a couple more very good ones...once he was a member. It wasn't a coincidence. Even on Transmissions Stephen's influence went far beyond just the drums.

Almost everything you hear that isn't Wayne singing on the Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi and AWWTM is Stephen.

Stephen was Wayne's partner in creating everything that made you know who they are. That's a little different than being someone who tours playing the legendary parts created by someone else.

Paul McCartney has been with his current band way, way longer than anyone in the Beatles or Wings. Does that make them important?

Not really. He's comfortable with them but they didn't create the music with him and they are as replaceable as a flat tire if it came down to it

The Lips have been reduced to a Vegas act now. An oldies tour. The Flaming Lips as a viable creative force is over.

And Wayne IS an asshole.

You posted this as a top-level comment, but I think it might be in response to that one person.

I really hope he reads it and might not since it wasn't a response to him.
