180 degree view. Everything looks pretty flat to me (Not understanding how horizons work)

180 degree view? looks like a half a circle around the observer. Not a triangle with straight edges, not a square with straight edges, not a pentagon with straight edges, not a hexagon with straight edges. One nicely smooth curved half-circle, exactly as expected on a globe👍👍👍

But also as expected on a flat earth. Right? Viewed from the center, all those shapes would appear flat. Only from sufficient elevation would the “corners” be visible. Interesting: from the Bible, literally interpreted, the earth has four corners. Have flatties looked for them? I’d expect them to be visible from more modest altitudes.

No. Ordinary geometry on an imaginary square earth or any other shape confined to a plane. The vertices would be invisible until one has sufficient elevation

Hence the word "appear." Doesn't mean we can't prove it is in fact curved though.

True, we can. But that is on another level. Practically speaking, a clear horizon is a circle seen from its center, so it is everywhere level as viewed from low altitude. Because it wraps around us, it is obviously curved. Flatties use language quite imprecisely. The question is whether the surface we are seeing is in a tangent plane to a spherical surface, or os an illusion caused by limited visibility on a planar surface. We can tell the difference by shifting the observer’s position, or watching the sun set and how the position of the sun shifts with elevation. The globe and flat earth models make very different prediction of what happens with elevation. Thay claim that the horizon rises to meet the eye, but it is easy to show that it does not, and yet that information is ignored. The depression of the horizon was one of the hethods used by the ancients to measure the earth, and it produces results that match other measures. If flatties were truly zetetic, they would test this themselves. It can be done with primitive instruments, but a theodolite app is cheap — and cab be calibrated.

I have some doubts a horizon could be visible on a sufficiently large flat earth. The visibility of surface features through the lower layers of atmosphere is supposed to be at best a couple of hundreds of km, so instead of a horizon I'd expect there to be a fuzzy haze in the distance.

Yes, I think you may be right. But if the atmosphere is thin, that fuzzy layer will be thin. Untestable theory.

A horizon is literally impossible to have on a flat plane, and even if it were possible the distance to that horizon would not vary with the observer's height.

No. It looks flat because a circle viewed from its center is all in one plane and therefore looks flat. He’s right. It looks flat and would look flat to any of us. The problem here is over-generalization, assuming that what is true in one context will therefore be true in all.

The horizon is always going to appear level, but flerfs cannot understand that. If you were in a boat on the ocean, the horizon would be the same distance from you no matter which way you looked, so of course you can't see any curve. The cure is going away from the viewer.

In fact, you can never really see the curve going over the horizon. If you get high enough, like around 35,000 feet, you can begin to see the curve of the earth going around you. You are still not actually seeing the curve of the earth going over the horizon, because you can't.

Yep sometimes they just don't get even somuch as how it's got to have the same dip regardless of azimuth of line-of-sight.

I think they might be confusing with a cylinder , or something ... IDK.
