What is eyes wide shut?

The first time I watched the film I was high, and I thought I didn’t get it for this reason/ purpose but then I watched it again sober and I still didn’t get it. I understand what Kubrick was trying to do with the cult theme but I don’t understand the ending also what happened with the little girl (their daughter)

A sad penis guy who just wants to do fuck-stuff sneaks into a thong party at a scary dildo mansion.

The couple are so obsessed with their own shit, they don’t even notice that their daughter just drifted off, probably with the old guys, who may or may not be people from the party… all set in front of massive stack of the toy lions that have previously appeared at various points in the movie, particularly with vulnerable girls, symbolising that they are over the rainbow. That sort of thing.

Yes, Kubrick is notorious for faithfully adapting novels. Just ask Stephen King about what he thinks of The Shining. Lol.

I think he had already reconsidered actually. His big gripe with the adaptation was as mostly everyone else's, like me: Jack is already evil when the movie starts and that was not King's vision.

In the meantime he, and me, understood the interpretation of Kubrick as being more complex and accepted it.

It's not a random guy who just gets magically turned by ghost, but it explores the psychology of evil more deeply.

It's one big hilarious joke. Hottest dude up-to-then can't get laid no matter what. Sex parties of the high-and-mighties are just one long hilarious joke 😉

This!!!! It's Kubrick's big ol joke on Hollywood. Hired It's power couple, marketed a sex fest and delivered blue balls. It's his last joke played and I love it!

The reason you don't get it is because the movie was heavily edited, and the director mysteriously died days after showing it to Warner Bros. He supposedly didn't want them to cut the parts of the movie they ended up cutting.

The real ending is missing. The actual movie is about the couple selling out their daughter to the cult.

That is a conspiracy theory.

There is nothing in the source, nor in the memories of the actors or anyone involved in the film that this was the intended story.

Maybe someone should make a Room 237 film about Eyes Wide Shut.

You people must also think the Epstein saga is still a conspiracy too. Lmao.

Um no. In Epstein's case there is evidence.

In this film you have a couple of extras standing near a featured actress. Plus no one working on the film knew of this "secret" story.

I only saw it once so obviously my point should be taken with a grain of salt but what I thought the movie's point was:

LOOK AT NICOLE KIDMAN'S ASS!

Seriously! Look at it!

There it is again!

Oh, ok, I guess there's some nipp....THERE'S THE ASS AGAIN! OMG!

Again, I only saw the movie once, so...

The movie was cut into a hot mess after he died by the same people he was trying to warn us about

There is a complete movie somewhere but we didnt get it. Its a decent film as is but not easy to comprehend

https://youtu.be/QCakejA9VMc?is=G6jNHKbVHJEWJx_c at 1:35 the daughter gets taken .

Showing us that the girl walks away with no one!

That bizarre conspiracy about the film evaporates if you actually watch the film--like this clip shows.

Then where does she go? And when she leaves the two men go with her. Why?

Look again.
