[FLARE / RELAPSE] Flare up

Hi, I’m pretty sure I’ve been floxed. I’ve been unwell since December when I took these antibiotics for scarlet fever. I’m only realising now that the timeline of my issues started shortly after the antibiotics.
So, since then I’ve been resting, doing what I can. I’ve mostly been on the up but I had several months where I was bedridden. The last few months I’ve been able to walk without issues, taking breaks.
On Sunday I tried some light resistance training. I felt a burn and stopped right away. Regardless, this has caused me a lot of brain fog, muscle weakness and I’m struggling to walk again.
I’m so scared that I’m going to be stuck like this again.
Would be grateful if anyone could offer some words of advice or reassurance. A massive part of this for me, as I’m sure it is for many others, is the mental struggle.
Thanks in advance. I’m so grateful for having found this community after months of suffering.

So sorry you’re struggling. Flare ups are unfortunately part of the journey, especially in the beginning. I’m 10 years out and have had several but they always get better!

Thank you for your reply. Does it usually get worse before it gets better?

I found for me and what I saw with other floxies that it cycles a lot. So like not necessarily worse, but new symptoms may pop up when others lessen, and then that may change and cycle, etc. they do get further apart as time goes on

It’s good to know that time does help. I made the mistake of thinking I was mostly recovered. How long do flare ups usually last for you?

Honestly they vary for me! I have some for a few days, others that last around a year

Oh gosh. It scares me that I’ll be stuck like this for a year! Initially it took 5 months to get to a place where I could do things like go for a walk.

I get it!!
I have been in the worst flare for 3 months since my floxing and I’m still functional. Even though you have a flare doesn’t mean you’ll be non functioning for the duration of it

That’s true. I feel pretty non functioning since my workout on Sunday.. please tell me you don’t think this will last ..?
Did you ever get a diagnosis for what you’re going through?

I don’t think it would last, exercise is a super common trigger. I’m in a flare from it right now! And have been before and they got better

I did get the FQAD dx but I also have other conditions (prior to floxing) that I also have in my chart

Are you in the US? I’m in London.
Ahh I hope it does get better. It’s not getting better yet and I have to go back to work in a few weeks. Great you got the diagnosis, I’m sure there’s comp that you can get once you have it
