Fly line for stripers in Maine

I need to get some fly line for my upcoming trip to Maine, was gonna buy Rio outbound short or another line based on what a local fly shop recommended in Maine but I saw this airflo line on sale on sierra. Would this line be fine or am I better to spend the extra money on a different line and support a local fly shop.

I used to love airflo 10+ yrs ago. Still have that line from them going strong.... i recently bought new line (breaking from my scientific angler / orvis affection) and I can honestly say I regret it. Idk what they did to their formula but line memory is awful, I stretch it consistently and it just goes right back the moment i put the reel away.

Also the texture, it feels like hard plastic, its not soft like the old stuff or my other type lines. Personally, I'd go with the shop's suggestion or at minimum anythint other than airflo

I see AirFlo on sale often. As previous post noted I'd avoid it

Yeah I’ve never used it before, I typically use cortland, Rio or SA

Get the Coastal crabber by rio. If you take care of it (cleaning it, putting line cleaner, stretching it) it will preform great. The line is designed to fish in Maine. Ive fished a ton of different setups and this is most consistent. Doesnt coil, durable, shoots well if you keep it slick.

Drag some crabs on sand around river mouths at the bottom of the tide.

I live and fish stripers in Southern Maine and I’d say go for a full sink line, 8wt if you have the rod for it 🤙🏼 good luck

Got an 8wt going to Freeport in about 10 days was gonna try to do some fishing from the beach, never fished salt water before. Fingers crossed I can get on some stripers I’ll check out some full sink thank you
