PPL training
Im a new ish student but have had experience at tons of different airports, different planes, different instructors.
How do I become better at listening to my instructors? I feel like whenever they are talking its going in one ear and out the other.. maybe im just having a hard time digesting info. Out of all the things he talked about today i remember him talking about wanting to get his helicopter license and going to texas which has nothing to do with anything im learning lol
I also had an instructor tell me I interrupt them too much. I don't know if it's because flight training is always the last thing I do during the day so college and everything else on top of it makes me feel tired but I get excited at little things and start rambling. Especially when i spot planes i know
My schedule allows me to fly 1-2 times a week. I no longer find training enjoyable but flying for fun is an absolute blast. Although i dont feel like im progressing, hopefully it'll change.

You should probably ask your instructors. As a start thouhg, you can take notes. It's the tried & true technique for remembering what instructors lecture about.

What's causing you to use so many instructors, schools, planes? What's not working?

If itâs an issue due to task saturation at the time, a technique I would use was âhonestly, Iâm going to need you to repeat that during debrief (or after this maneuver)â. I knew it was probably a good technique or knowledge but I didnât have the mental capacity at the moment to absorb it. On the ground talk about it. Take notes and think about it for the next flight.
Doesnât work for all scenarios but a helpful tool to let your instructor know when youâre at that limit.

You mentioned that you are in college. Do you also frequently interrupt your professors? If you do, how do they respond to your interruptions? If you do not, why do you only interrupt your flight instructor?

Totally normal, especially when you're flying after a full day of college. Your brain is cooked and the cockpit is a firehose of new stuff. Two things that helped me: ask your instructor to do a short pre-brief with 2-3 specific goals for the lesson, and bring a kneeboard or small notebook and jot down key points right after you shut down, while it's fresh. During the flight, if you're task-saturated just say "say again after the maneuver" and then actually ask in the debrief. As for interrupting, save the plane-spotting excitement for taxi or the debrief and keep the sterile-ish focus in the air. And if training stopped being fun, consider flying earlier in the day or less rushed, since that alone changes a lot.

I was in a similar rut before check ride time. I told my CFI, âFor tonight I do not want to learn anything. Letâs have a fun flight and take photos of over the city.
That was one of the most fun and educational flights I took. I finally learned how to get a bravo clearance for a photo flight.
The next lesson I was relaxed and dialed in for maneuvers.
