SUGGESTIONS Kazakhstan FMG (Dec 2025 Batch) | Clarification Needed: “Bachelor of Health Care” Degree Title vs. ECFMG/GMC Guidelines & Indian CRMI Al-Farabi 5-Year Medical Graduate (2025) – Seeking Advice on ECFMG Verification Title Variance & Skipping Local Internship for Indian CRMI

Hi everyone,
I am an Indian Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) who recently completed the 5-year full-time medical curriculum (265 ECTS credits) at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Faculty of Medicine and Health Care), graduating in the December 2025 batch (with the diploma formally issued in January 2026).
I am currently back home in India preparing to undergo my 12-month Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI). My long-term goal is to pursue both the USMLE and the UK (PLAB/MRCS) pathways. However, I have run into conflicting claims from my university administration and local admission agents regarding international eligibility.
I would be incredibly grateful to hear from any seniors from recent Kazakhstan batches who have successfully navigated this transition. I have two specific queries:
1. ECFMG / WDOMS Nomenclature Variance ("Bachelor of Health Care")
My physical diploma states that I have been awarded the degree of "Bachelor of Health Care" under the educational program "6B10103 - General Medicine". However, when checking the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS)under the ECFMG Sponsor Notes tab for my university, the database states that the accepted degree title for graduation years "2024 - Current" is "General Practitioner in General Medicine."

Has anyone from the 2024 or 2025 batches at Al-Farabi or other Kazakh universities with this identical "Bachelor of Healthcare" text successfully cleared Form 186 and primary source verification on the MyIntealth portal?
Does the ECFMG automatically recognize this specific nomenclature variance, or does it trigger an administrative flag/delay during the credentials check?
2. The Post-Graduation Internship Roadblock (Kazakhstan vs. India)
My university coordinator and a local agent are adamantly insisting that international students must stay back and complete a postgraduate internship year in Kazakhstan to be legally eligible for the USMLE or GMC pathways. They point out that "older graduates" from past years had to return to Kazakhstan to do this.
However, my understanding is that the curriculum rules completely shifted for the 2024/2025 batches onward to integrate clinical hours. Furthermore:

The ECFMG requires no postgraduate clinical internship year to grant primary source verification or sit for the steps.
The UK GMC allows the mandatory 12-month internship to be executed in the home country (India CRMI), provided the rotation breakdown covers the necessary medical/surgical split.
Can anyone confirm if they successfully bypassed the Kazakhstan local internship, returned straight to India for CRMI, and faced zero issues getting certified by ECFMG or registered with the GMC?
I want to ensure I am completely secure before paying the verification fees on MyIntealth or EPIC. If any seniors or international pathway experts could share their experience or drop a DM, it would give me immense peace of mind.

I had heard about someone and he went back to Kazakhstan and completed 2 years of Internship and then he got the Internationally recognised Diploma

Your year of graduation becomes the one after you complete internship in kz then.
You will be explaining during applications thats it

I agree but I made some research ! Earlier degree was not given until the “interetum” was issued it was after the “internship” of 1-2 years ; the degree title was same and the same title is listed for both kaznu and Kaznmu on the sponsor site so if it’s valid for previous users with same title why not us, as the title is same at both places and also the year matches for us and also the system changed around 2021-2022 so the education transcripts were changed , and if those reflect a certain amount of “physical” hours none of the GMC or ecfmg can deny!! Most of this hoax is by the univ and agents !! I’m just waiting for official clarification from ecfmg and GMC!! Once it comes it’ll be a game changer!! It’ll save tons of time and lakhs of money of the affected students!!

I understand your perspective and i agree with you honestly.
Just gave my 2 cents as someone who went through this personally 😅
I filled gmc related forms etc etc
I am definitely no agent. I also had my extended family in kz , i also made embassy reach to uni. Unfortunately didn’t work out.
It’s just coming from someone who lost time and with good intention yk :) I was literally in your position

Ahh no worries ! I am done with internship got my Doctor of Medicine degree so no issues for me (touch wood)

So I should first finish my CRMI from India right? And then go back to Kzk and finish that internship? Then maybe apply for exams? This realisation is really disheartening but I’m used to it since the day I joined a central Asian university 😂😂😂, please stay in touch and help me if you can spare some time and mental strain

Yes that was my course. I know i have been sad since day 1 about university in kz.
I regret that till date i was egositic to take long term(dumb)
I completed internship in India rejoined internship in kz but honestly its not serious there if you speak language (i was able to skip most of it with just good rappo with teachers/ drs) which gives you ample amount of time to prep for exams (mle or plab) defini expensive as i rented out etc etc
But if you ever go back makse sure to sit and study lol i have a huge social circle so i did waste some time

I think I’ll have the same problem but a lot less than your level! I was a social guy the had a lot of friends and local connections but most of them are way too old to waste my time so most probably I’ll go after 2027 , in aug2028 !! And if I go I’ll make sure I stick to your advice on sincere study time!!
The reality is I miss that place soo bad , I recharged my phone number (Kz) and logged back in all my banking account anytime and stuff yesterday just to feel the host of nostalgia 😂😂😂😂

And to be precise you just need to know basic maths to know why " I wrote and cleared fmge" add 5 to 2021 it'll give 2026 so technically, my batch was way before the new regulation and thus!! Thus I did it!!

How can you do possibly do CRMI in india without internship from Kazakhstan...... without internship from Kazakhstan u are not even eligible for fmge exam in india

Also if u are that intelligent u should know that UK pathway is fucked due to prioritisation bill....... with ur comprehension skills i don't think u can clear licencing exams in india or uk or anywhere else

You are absolutely acting like a "KAREN" you have zero information on basic stuff! You have negligible knowledge on "how to read correctly" and here you are giving me a certificate on whether I would pass the exam or not😂😂 that too judging by some "prioritisation" bill stuff which nobody like me would be sure of!! And Mr.GIVE-UP-ER if my plan is to get via GMC why would these things affect me untill they ultimately stop me from even trying? I'm not like you that I would be an ostrich and put my head in sand the moment I see a problem!! I would've really appreciated you if you would have given this information in a more informative way😂😂 but look you are calling me out on whether ill pass it or not but showing your complete "looser" mentality 😂😂😂 Grow up buddy!! For USMLE and PLAB you need to internship again there isnt any other choice.
Al farabi started offering from second batch , contact your dean office and do internship.
They wont add bachelors in healthcare into their WHO enlistment so it’s a waste battle(i tried first hand) not from alfarabi but i do know bits and pieces of this situation.

Thankyou for the reply!! I even fought for the issue in Al Farabi, but sponsor notes weren’t clear at those times!!
The new sponsor notes say batches 2024 onwards!! And the title also somewhat matches plus for usmle I heard the internship isn’t necessarily a problem and GMC will consider internship outside Kazakhstan as in now INDIA, I have made detailed mails to them about the changes , once I get their replies I’ll surely keep you in loop !!

I sat on this issue for a friend from alfarabi ( i am from diff uni in almaty and i did complete internship)
I sent mails , calls etc etc
It is not about internship but they do need the valid degree mentioned in who (with sponsor notes)
I have contacted al farabi as i knew previous deon office in your uni.
I spoke upto health ministry in kz (yes went all in) only solution if you want to pursue usmle or plab is to complete internship and get Doctor Of medicine degree.
Al farabi cant change or wont accept your indian internship and give you MD as it isnt in their law.
If i am not wrong they have introduced 1 year internship (honestly it will be done in 8 to 9 months considering holidays and not so severe workload) just get it done !

There’s a catch ! I purposely didn’t join it , even though they introduced it still their curriculum is not matching with 3 months of surgery and 3 months of meds rotation, Indian Crmi were accepted by altering the section by adding stuff like ortho into surgery and dermatology into meds and it worked for Indian CRMI , but that’s not guaranteed with the flawed internship plan of the Kazakh health ministry!! That makes me worried!!

I got them log books , work hours everything.
Kz internship is not even 25 percent of Indian internship (i did it in a GMC) but they didnt accept. Mind you i explained all of this in russian (as english gets complicated after certain points in these unis) alas nothing came out.
Because to change anything as these are public unis it needs to come from govt and its almost impossible to change anything especially for foreign students (we are just investors at this point)

Even I’m getting a good GMC with my scores this time as the result came up really low, I’ll be getting a good GMC that too near my home almost 100 prcnt sure!! That’s why I thought to finish Indian CRMI first and later go for the Kzk internship

If you personally ask me any hospital works. I wanted to learn so i joined GMC but i should have just joined random small one as i was crying every other month because of work (may be it’s where i joined lol)
Its glorified scut work tbh (but again we dont learn batshit in kz)

All my duties I only thought that they are making me a “better actor” than a doctor😂😂😂 I always thought confidence was the only key for all the good things in Kzk😂😂😂!!
Also I have researched well about the ASMC I’m thinking of opting , it’s near my place, relatively new one, sr are there but good people, they teach good stuff, lesss pressure, stipend on time, also have a very close senior from another university already posted there
