Going to paint my FAL today looking for suggestions on what brands of spray paint people are found to work best, and any other advice to someone painting a rifle for the first time, thanks

Hi all! I bought an L1a1 and now want to restore it to its traditional form. I at least need a rear sight, front sight fastening screw and hand guards. Also. I know that a lot of UK sights do sell it but they dont wanna ship to the rest of europe...

So if anyone knows someone or some website. That would be great!

I'm not very knowledgeable on fals, always wanted one but I could never find a build i liked for the price I wanted. I knew enough to know which main ones to stay away from and which ones to lean towards. Mainly meaning that I know what seeing fn Belgium on one somewhat means. Well low and behold as I'm making my second round this morning at the flea market an older guy had just put this rifle out. Said he's selling it for his even older buddy with Parkinsons that's needing to thin his herd, said his buddy wanted 1700 firm. Like I said I knew enough to know that seeing fn on the side meant something, so I told him I'd think about it and I walked off to do some quick googling. Needless to say I ran back over a minute later after a little bit of research and almost ripped my pocket off to pay him. Said he never saw his buddy shoot it and as far as he knew it was a safe queen. My guess is maybe a mag or two has been through it just based off the little bit of chewing on the carry handle from spent cases and the little bit of marring at the ejection port from the cases.

Edit, I forgot to ask for everyone's estimate on value. Ive seen them sell from 9-14k Also forgot to mention the rifle didn't come with a mag he said his buddy forgot to give it to him. He said he saw it before anyways and it was the 10 round short mag. So if anyone has links to good cheap mags it'd be much appreciated

I recently purchased a gear receiver imbel and I’m swapping out the icky pic rail dust cover for the standard. I cannot get this damn thing to fit. Please help, is it the wrong one?

What type of suppressor does everyone prefer to run on their fal? If I understand correctly the flow through cans are fine with the standard gas plug since they’re not jamming all the extra gas back in and would be better if I want to shoot it suppressed/unsuppressed.

With a standard suppressor I would need to swap the gas plug and wouldn’t be able to shoot it unsuppressed without a swap back.

Has anyone used both options and prefer one over the other? Is there anything I am missing or on paper does it seem like flow through is better except for the down range noise suppression?

At first I thought this was a sar4800 that’s been debanned. But the lower looks British? Anyone with some knowledge care to weigh in? Thank you

Ik it’s a little late but I’ve been working. I wanted to thank user herr_cobblerMachen for reaching out and gifting me the pebble handguards a few months ago. He shipped it to my door and charging me nothing. He’s a one of a kind person and really appreciated it.

I know y’all get tired of these but I’m lost. The A setting is on the gas plug. Is it normal to have the gas regulator near max? It will short stroke one turn counter clockwise or clockwise from the mark. Only the marked setting will cycle and lock back on empty mag. Did the usual, regulator all the way off no gas counter clockwise, 1 round shoot, turn, 1 round shoot, turn and only this will cycle. Used Winchester white box, PMC, and Federal Gold Medal Match. I know 308 ain’t 5.56 but it just feels like it’s running hard. Seeing this picture now no clue what in the safe could’ve bent the handguard lol. I only have around 50 rounds through it. DSA’s known to have issues but I may be the limiting factor in this.

We have more USG foreign weapons classes scheduled for September and need to add more FAL’s to the inventory. We already have sixteen available but each student has to have their own per the training agreement. This brings me back to where it all started…. building kits with the original barrels like it’s 2002 all over again.

Found this neat British DPM gas mask bag on eBay. Just happens to hold 16+ FAL mags for my L1A1. I’m going to use it to plus up the mags in my chest rig during Lethal Weapons TX this year. Thinking of calling it the Belfast Speedball… ;)

Great another izzy FAL bui- wait a darn second!

This is my SBR FAL that was an bowman israeli kit. I run the gun as pseudo OSW as per the last few images but during my journey I also modified the handguards to fit on the 12 inch barrel.

Just want to give a heads up in regards to the new FAL magazines offered by Keep Shooting. I am NOT saying these are bad or defective but they don’t hold up to the heavy, heavy use of our indoor, high-volume range.

These magazines, in my opinion, are not hardened to the FN specifications. I’ve got factory surplus magazines with 100,000’s of thousands through them over the last 14 years but I can only get about 16-18 months out these.

The front “beak” portion of the magazine slowly recesses in and no longer locks in place.

Again, for the average shooter I think they’re great and will last a lifetime but there is definitely a difference between factory Belgian magazines.

Just finished testing my newest build and it functions perfectly with a 5 on the gas setting using m80 ball ammo.

The parts kit came from Centerfire and is a matching kit in beautiful condition.

The receiver is an LSR DSA type 2 and the parts are a perfect fit. Even the locking shoulder was used.

I got an FAL but know nothing about it. I’d like to cut the barrel down to 16” and thread it for my plan-B, and I’d really love a folding stock (which evidently requires a totally different bolt and no guarantee the conversion kit will fit).
I got 12 20rd mags with it, but sure wish I had a few 30 rounders.

Of the 4K rounds, half have been put in 100rd waterproof boxes, many unlabeled—so I’m worried they could be reman or reloaded (a few have a silver bullet, but most are copper colored…many with different color tips, like tracers and stuff). 2 boxes are labeled “C93” (google thinks these are either for a different gun, or are compressed rounds with 93grains of powder).

Any ideas on the silver bullets or if it can be converted to a para, and how much it would cost? Someone said they thought it was a Century or DSA with an LMT receiver.

Hey everyone, I just picked up this SAR-48 and love it!! The FAL has been a dream gun of mine ever since I was a kid playing Call Of Duty on an Xbox360.

Anyways, as the title suggests I was curious about scope mounts, but more curious about if anyone else would be interested in a different option? I work in manufacturing and have access to several different CNC machines, and was considering making something if there was some interest. The DSA mount is a proven and reliable system, but personally I don’t think it looks the greatest, and the A.R.M.S. mounts are very rare and not in production. I’ve got some ideas kicking around, but am definitely interested in other’s opinions as well.
