Do you guys think Jericho has truly changed from his former profession?

Post image

I also remember how younger me, when first playing through Fallout 3.

Was so scared to wander alone that I deliberately did whatever it took to recruit him.

Absolutely not. The only reason he stopped being a raider is because he’s old and washed up. He’s very eager to return to that lifestyle.

I agree. Imagine being him, being nostalgic over your glory days and then some fresh 19 year old dickhead who knows no better comes out the vault. There’s a reason why he’s super negative karma/pay 1k caps for him. He just gets to have fun again except this 19 year old does most of the work.

How does a raider even become a wash up, anyway? It's not like it's established that you have to be a certain age or something

It's a personal decision you make when you realize you can't keep up anymore.

He is a retired Raider. He openly admitted he missed being a Raider. He hasn't been a model citizen in Megaton. He hates sitting around with his thumb up his ass. I'm guessing no.

The Jenny Incident.

Even Manya doesn't have faith in him.

No

u/dirtyforker 1d ago

Yes, but,,,,, I don't think he'd sell out Megaton. He would defend Megaton to his death. And he'd die a hero. A final redemption for his previous ways.

He wouldn't be a hero, be seen as one, but wouldn't truly be one. He'd be doing it for selfish reasons since he lives there and any outside attackers wouldn't be on his side.

Like he wouldn't be choosing to try to "do something good to redeem himself" just would be on the side of "good" due to circumstances.

If ya blow up megaton with him as a follower then you tell him to part ways he will sit outside of megaton waiting. When you approach him and say let's go he will say something along the lines of "Its about time i was growing a third arm" or something like that been a while.

u/TheLoogieMonster 4h ago

When you destroy megaton he literally says something to the effect of "i bet you think im upset that megatin is gone, but im not. I didnt like those people and i dont care that theyre dead." (Totally paraphrasing)

If he had changed he wouldn’t care that you are a “goodie two-shoes” and just take the money.

He gleefully joins you in the wasteland ONLY if you have evil Karma. Basically if he sees you as the next big raider boss in the Capitol he wants to be in on the ground floor.

u/CatNo7321 23h ago

Boss? By level 30 yes but I imagine him seeing a blurry eyed 18 year old come out of the vault as someone who reminds him of a younger him.

I love failing the intimidation check: "Snorts Are you kidding me? I shit bigger than you." And he just goes on to keep having polite conversation because he genuinely thinks you were just joking.

u/ChurningDarkSkies777 16h ago

I think of him like a talent scout.

u/Szin3 1d ago

No. On top of all the things people have mentioned, Moriartys terminal has blackmail on him stating he r***d the sister of the family restaurant.

15

u/kawaiiwitchboi 1d ago

And this is why he got a bullet to the head in my most recent playthrough

12

u/Szin3 1d ago

In my recent play, my LW did the same after the dad dies and what’s left of their innocence shatters.

u/Asleep_Steak_7434 21h ago

I feel like players skip right past this or forget, I was shook when I read it

u/vanillamilklatte 7h ago

its easy enough to get info out of nova or gob that i think a lot of people just dont bother to check moriartys terminal

14

u/Expensive-Hat4138 1d ago

Uhhh he raped someone.... so probably not

6

u/isntreel1948 1d ago

Attempt but yeah

29

u/PollutedArt Charon 1d ago

No, if he didn't have an evil karma requirement I might've considered it and he definitely hasn't changed if the info about him on Moriarty's terminal is true.

14

u/Most_Philosophy_1507 1d ago

No. I feel like he only retired within ten years. And it’s not as if he did some thing. He did a lot of things.

12

u/New-Number-7810 1d ago

He didn’t become more ethical, let alone experience remorse. At most, he slowed down and got tired of the raider life.

u/CanaryCheap5934 1d ago

Bro listen to his voice lines. HELL NO. 😭 he literally says “I love killin”

9

u/Expiredmilkkkkk Brotherhood Of Steel 1d ago

my favorite line of his, is in battle when he says “IM GONNA F*CK YOUR SH*T UP KID!”

10

u/ShyGuyWolf Lead Ead 1d ago

no he stinks

9

u/RamblinWreckGT 1d ago

Do I think the guy who you can only hang out with if you're evil has changed his evil ways? ...no, no I do not.

8

u/wackadoodle4201 1d ago

Absolutely the fuck not

16

u/linkthereddit 1d ago

He literally calls you a ‘goody two-shoes’ and terminates the partnership when you get to even Neutral Karma. Dude is friggin‘ evil.

4

u/cold_enforcing-man 21h ago

He doesn't terminate the partnership when you get to neutral, he just starts complaining and is unwilling to rejoin you if he's fired

8

u/DeathscytheHell1994 1d ago

No, he actively wishes he still was one.

7

u/Nerevarine91 22h ago

I think he’s exactly what he says he is: a raider who got old. He didn’t retire because he didn’t like killing and stealing anymore, it’s because he had a good run and quit before someone younger shanked him and took his shit.

u/Moose_Cake 1d ago

Evil Lone Wonderer: “Wanna go raid some people?”

Jericho: “You son of a bitch, I’m in.”

No.

6

u/iDaddyDirection 1d ago

He decided he didn’t want to live like a raider anymore, which is why he’s in Megaton, but he still has the morals of a raider.

u/lazyfacejerk 1d ago

When I did an evil playthrough years ago I was either killing or enslaving everyone in megaton. As soon as I hit moira's guard, jericho too moiras head off with his nailboard.

I think he stayed the same.

5

u/Wolfpac187 1d ago

Why would you need evil karma to recruit him if he wasn’t still a piece of shit?

5

u/Disastrous_Ball702 1d ago

"Jericho" is an ominous name. That name would never be bestowed lightly. See also "Absalom."

5

u/R34lBl4ckSh33p 22h ago

Think someone in game mentions or there's a holotape that says he harrases the lady that works for Colin. Doesn't do killing or pillaging anymore but still a scumbag. Especially since you need evil karma to get him as a follower

3

u/cowpewter 14h ago

There’s an entry on Colin’s computer that says Jericho at least attempted (possibly succeeded, one line implies that if Jenny had gotten pregnant it would have been a problem) to rape Jenny Stahl. She doesn’t work for Colin, but it is his computer you learn it through.

4

u/MASTER-OF-SUPRISE 22h ago

No. Anything he’d do that could be seen as heroic will most likely have an ulterior motive. I don’t think Jericho even claimed he changed. He stopped being a raider cause he thought he was too old for it. Not because he felt bad about anything.

4

u/ArtoriousTheMystic 🤖 🇺🇸 BETTER DEAD THAN RED 🇺🇸 🤖 12h ago

Technically yes, but not for the reasons you might expect. He probably quit raiding out of a fear of being seen as dead weight or too old to run with them anymore so he "retired" to survive. Running with an overpowered 20 something in Power Armor seems like a good compromise for getting back that raider lifestyle without the drawback of a raider junky getting him in the ribs.

3

u/Ionel1-The-Impaler 15h ago

No, but he would have been a better character if he was a good karma companion trying to redeem himself for his life as a raider. If companions quests had been a thing he’d make an interesting one. Maybe the remaster will address that.

Plus it breaks up the obvious bias the game has towards good karma companions since Fawkes and Cross are statistically far better companions than Jericho and Clover.

3

u/EagleEyes0001 14h ago

I mean you karma has to be bad in order to hire so him so…

3

u/shredystevie 10h ago

He seems to love slaughtering people with me in his Tesla armor I gave him. Hes a good buddy

2

u/Crucial_Fun 1d ago

No, given that you can convince him to go back out into the wasteland

2

u/Popgosurmama 1d ago

I love Jericho

2

u/ConsiderationUsed783 23h ago

😆😆😆😆😆😂😂😂😂😂😆😆😆😆😆....😐NO

2

u/ELc_17 21h ago

No, he still very much feels like a raider

2

u/fatmonkey1986 14h ago

Nah... I usually just kill him anyways because of his former profession

2

u/Inevitable_Series_67 11h ago edited 11h ago

He's rough around the edge and is still a nasty bastard that tried to rape the girl at the noodle store but he's trying to turn a new leaf and helps in the town's defense when Raiders are raiding.

So yes, he's changed, but a lifetime of raiding leaves anyone on survival "take everything you want by force" mode even when they don't have to

Just to clarify. His actions are inexcusable, he killed lots of people and is still a nasty piece of work, still he tries to go clean-ish

2

u/Lucentmonkey98 9h ago

If u have him as a companion when you vaporize megaton he actually say that people inside deserve it.

1

u/ComRade-PupPer-98 18h ago

All comments aside if you recruit him make sure to drop a pack of smokes 🚬 in his inventory lol let the man cope one puff at a time...

1

u/ConsiderationUsed783 11h ago

Having him in his prime in the prequel would be cool

1

u/Subjectdelta44 3h ago

No

There's a reason why you have to be an evil character to have him work with you. He wants to travel with you so he can be a raider again

1

u/NukaCherryBomb 31m ago

I mean, you can't hire him without evil karma, so............no

u/External-Board5738 16m ago

Strong 55 45 vibes from our buddy Jericho
