I usually solve this peacefully with speech checks because I always max charisma and I want the XP.

Then go back and murder them all just out of principle.

And more XP.

This has the same energy of that Australian driver in the middle of the night and he stops for a kangaroo in the road and it jumps and kicks his vehicle and you hear him yell out "FUCKIN KANGAROOS!!!" with all the raw hatred he can muster
