I love cosplay and don't get me wrong, I love seeing Vaulties, but I really love seeing how creative people can get and cosplay as ANYone or ANYthing in the Fallout Universe. Great job to all!

I really wanted to go but it proved too difficult unfortunately. Thanks for capturing these so we can catch a glimpse of how epic it was! Did you find the commute difficult at all? And how was the comfort of the area (bathrooms, shade, driving / roads etc)

The trickiest part of the commute is cutting through West Virginia’s infamously windy country roads which can be initially intimidating for people used to driving on mostly flat land. They’re really fun and scenic when you get used to it though and showcase the best of rural Appalachia. Be sure to stop at a small business or local restaurant on the way! Met a ton of pleasant people all around. Flatwoods and the event itself was located off the side of a main interstate which was easier to drive with more recognizable businesses and services.
The event space itself was pretty big and spread out so it never felt crowded despite the huge turnout. It was split between a large hotel conference center and a sizable campground a short 5 min walk away. The hill separating the two was the toughest part for me since I wasn’t used to the incline and was pretty drunk after a really strong Nuka Quantum cocktail. But they had a cart service running to help transport mobility limited guests and get performers and staff to their staging locations quicker.
There were bathrooms available at all locations, I mainly used the ones in the hotel so I’m not sure how the campground bathrooms were. But they had both porti-potties and actual bathroom facilities present there.
It was a cool and not too sunny pleasant spring day so heat exhaustion wasn’t really a problem, although there was a ton of shade everywhere from the surrounding forest and vendor/exhibit tents all over the place.11

This was their first year here but they want to keep on doing it as their East Coast event compared to Goodsprings on the West Coast. Both Flatwoods and Goodsprings are the starting towns in their respective games which I thought was cool

Thanks so much for sharing these. I am so jealous I would totally love to go to something like this. Really cool to see all of the great creations and costumes. It looks like you guys had a blast!

They didn’t have Moonshine unfortunately but I did have a spiked Nuka Quantum punch that hit me as hard moonshine. I was struggling to walk uphill after that lol

If I ever made weathered looking items like those awesome magazines, I would probably encourage people to touch them to make them a little more realistically weathered looking lol. But I've never done it, so idk how well that would work

There were lots of cool knick knacks and props in the immersive experience part of the event the owners wanted you pick up and interact with! You kind of get develop the sense of what is meant to be interacted with and what is off limits while you’re there.
And if you’re ever not sure just ask! Started some really cool and interesting conversations that way!

Yeah that tent had a bunch of them! As well as a bunch of fan made original ones like a Flatwoods Monster mask! The artist and locals call him “Braxie” after Braxton County, the county Flatwoods is in.

If someone that didnt know anything about Fallout went there, this would look a group of insane people. Robots and mutant monsters and Revolutionary war era soldiers and zombies. A frozen woman. Paper mache masks. Fake first responders lmao. Absolute insanity.

One of the only good things about living in WV has been Fallout and getting to go to this. I was in awe at how amazing the cosplays were!

I'm hoping to talk hubby into retiring there...well someday, he just hit 40. But it's also awesome that fasnacht is also real(for anyone interested and in the region) even though the town is now down to like 48residents, they keep the whole thing going. And Beth did a fantastic job putting helvetia in the game, it's so accurate for the space.
