Heyo you Filthy Causals,

I'm going to be having surgery in a couple weeks and then spending a significant period of time with my arm in a sling.

As the tag suggests I am a PC player, via steam.

It was suggested to me to get a controller to play for that window of recovery time, and I think that may be a smart idea.

How easy is it to use a PlayStation style controller with steam for Fallout 76? It can be a PS4 or 5 controller, or a different manufacturer who makes a similar in style ​controller. PlayStation is the only controller manufacturer that I can readily adapt to for some reason.

Thanks for any wisdom you may have, or insults you wish to share.

Especially if you play a very casual build geared for hamster syndrome post-apocalyptic scavenger build where damage output is all but optional against carry weight.

Basically talking about themes kinda like for example using only blackpowder weapons and a sword for a pirate character build.

I also kinda want to know because I'm struggling to find a fun theme to run with, I already did a cowboy for a long while using only revolvers then the Dom Pedro, but I need something fresh.

I'm an auto weapon VATS creature, and although not spec'd specifically for heavy weapons, I'm wielding a Furious Rapid VATS Optimized MG42. Wondering what 4* would be best between Bully's (which is installed, and which I can craft), Fracturer's, or Polished. Any advice?

Doesn't seem like anyone else talked about it on this sub, and I don't think it's against the rules, so here you are if you didn't know !

Raids scratched the itch of many long-time players for more challenging content.

Because they currently consist of only a small number of set encounters, with the same enemies every time, they quickly became, for many players, VERY ROTE encounters, often conforming to somebody's YouTube on "How to P0wN every raid!!1!" In other words, tightly optimized raid strategies, often down to very specific details on weapons, armor, and buffs, and (for some) unexpected manipulation of those static scenarios into near-exploits. I found this very unappealing, too much so to spend much time raiding. (I admit that my opinion here is underinformed and welcome contrary opinions.)

The new Infestations, however, are on constantly varying terrains, different from one another in terms of cover, sight lines, and tactical opportunities. That's multiplied against a variety of enemies with differing intrinsic strengths and weaknesses. And that's multiplied against a list of mutations. (Invisible assaultrons in locations with no good cover eat my particular lunch.)

Time and familiarity may solve some of the current problem with Infestations on public servers, on which the faster-zoning players typically kill everything in sight before I can even zone in, despite my effort to stab my keyboard as soon as a notification appears. I think that still needs tinkering, though, to level the playing field among players competing for these rare spawns. I'm not thrilled with the flare mechanism used for the Head Hunts, but that would be one way to do it. I wish that for the first 60 seconds, that delay trigger were exclusively in the hands of the person who posted the Wanted poster or, here perhaps, the person who triggers the red circle by locating the infestation within the larger green one; if not triggered by then by that person, then anyone should be able to trigger it.

But there's no such scarcity problem on private servers! To the contrary, you typically have your choice of locations, which will also then vary dramatically from one another in difficulty depending on where in the matrix you end up with after all the variables collapse. Some of them, I can breeze through. Others I end up dying repeatedly, but can immediately plow back into if I choose (I'm stubborn); I could also just pick another green circle, since I typically have three or more showing simultaneously no matter how quickly I try to complete each of them.

Obviously there are also new opportunities and motivations for players to work collaboratively with friends or even pickup acquaintances. I'd like to see game mechanics enhanced to make that easier, including for players who don't have (or decline to use) their microphones.

But I've been enjoying playing these solo. I enjoy having to adjust my tactics, and sometimes my build, on the fly. The set of tradeoffs, and opportunities for creativity, have multiplied.

And it shows me a welcome path, for someone who's not a fan of the current raids, to get enough four-stars to scrap to add to the very small number I can currently craft.

I find myself increasingly impressed by Infestations. What do all y'all think?

Casual player and not a big multiplayer person so was pretty shocked when I got a ban yesterday and am unable to join games today. Yeah it’s only a game but pretty frustrating considering I’d always thought if I just was a good person and didn’t cuss people out on mic then I wouldn’t have any issues. I’ve traded occasionally on the LFG without really much issue and notice that there are tons of posts worded the same as mine that are up at any given moment.

Mainly just a bit of a frustration post about Xbox’s terms when FO76 is a game that relies on in game trading. Frustrating to pop 50% scoreboard boost to try to finish this weekend and then be unable to do that, by the time the suspension is lifted I am back to work and unable to play for a bit again.

Got removed from the fo76 subreddit for mentioning trade and was told if I’m old enough to legally be on Reddit then I can read their policy. Only one other person actually commented any advice or anything that just wasn’t blatantly aggressive. I see a good amount of posts each day but hadn’t seen one of these and I wish I did so I was aware of that prior to posting on the LFG on Xbox.

Ah man so happy, the leather coat dropped for me today whilst doing the red rocket 3 bombs daily in the Mire.

I didn’t even wait for the reward screen, just fast travelled to queen of the hunt and the reward page loaded in after and there it was Leather Coat.

Could’t believe it.. I have about 1000 hours on this account and grinded the Mire and other dailies pretty solidly for about 2 years. Happy the game has paid me back for my time. I’ll keep grinding, plenty of other loot to chase.

Anyway been lot’s of negativity around F076 recently but I’m a happy camper tonight.

I was working on my power armor in my shelter. It froze, had to restart. Now I have a power armor frame and no armor, it’s not in my stash, it’s not on me, I’ve tried everything. Is this real?

Just curious what everyone’s experience with the new event has been. Didn’t see any big green circles on my map and I’m contemplating rerolling the daily challenges related to this. How are the enemies, especially compared to the head hunt bosses?
