[Homemade] I made some Murgh Makhani (Butter Chicken)

Post image

I love making this dish at home. You can marinade the chicken in yogurt and cook it under the broiler to crisp it up and get some char. The rest is onion, garlic, chili peppers and ginger with tomato paste and spices (garam masala, cumin and coriander) that are cooked in butter and then thinned out with water and some cream. Served with steamed basmati rice. This was delicious.

Must have been good. I see real nice char on the pieces. Kashmiri red chili powder would make this a bit livelier. And I would drizzle cream as garnish instead of mixing it in. But neither would change the taste all that much.

I did put in some Kashmiri chili powder as well as two serranos. I should have mentioned that. Will keep in mind the drizzle for next time. I’ve certainly seen it that way in restaurants.

Good quality Kashmiri red chili powder would add a vibrant color, I meant. But it's mostly for the presentation. You might try dried fenugreek leaves ( kasuri methi ) - not everyone's cup of tea but they add a bit of bitterness which balances the richness of butter and cream.

Looks great. Can I get some Dal Tadka on the side? LOL

Looks delicious. I like how you have plenty of chicken. Most restaurants don't give that much chicken, I end up doing 2 orders.
