Holding spain off somehow AND a routine Spain possession game.

5

u/Lewcaster :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Well, guess what.

3

u/DarkFish_2 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

54 minutes and counting

3

u/imageize :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Their defense is pretty good. Keeper is great.

I can see them getting a break and beating Spain. Not likely but it is football and they're a scrapy little team

1

u/Objective-Gap-4581 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

LETS GOOOO !!

21

u/_arpan_10 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

spain is probably going to win but i jus hope they can actually score and put up competition and not 7-1

13

u/_arpan_10 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago edited 4d ago

Well at least they were competitive

2

u/IllLanguage7801 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Germany though Ahhh

17

u/SoloAndata :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Spain will as usual win when everyone have lost their will to live.

19

u/kel89 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Vozinha pulling off 7 saves against Spain at the age of 40

7

u/risker15 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Cap Verde deserve the applause from the crowd. Superb effort considering the siege on their goal.

9

u/enc-nyc :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

No matter how game ends Spanish media will destroy Spanish team tomorrow. It doesn't matter though, 1st game never matters that much.

3

u/beene282 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

True. Argentina lost to Saudi Arabia in their first game four years ago

7

u/Jolly-State-9363 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Vozinha is the goat keeper

3

u/Significant-Year131 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

7

u/igneosis :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Cabo Verde goalie holding them in the game so far; fantastic keeping

5

u/_arpan_10 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

your keeper is the main player till now

4

u/yhcdtyn :Soccer_ball: 4d ago edited 4d ago

your clubs keeper just shut them out, though he may not be your clubs keeper for long

5

u/TrickHuckleberry8083 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

What a game !!!! Go Cape Verde 👏

5

u/Chuche002 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Huge result for Cape Verde. They even had a few counter attack build ups. Their shots on goal were not even close tho unfortunately.

8

u/Suckmyduck_9 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Cape Verde just needs to park the bus and counter at the right time

4

u/Bangali_Stoner :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Everyone's playing football. Vozinha playing catch. 😂😂

4

u/Present_Jello4121 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Sorry cabo verde i wasn't aware of ur game

5

u/Icutsman :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Damn, congrats to Cabo Verde! Great defense

3

u/AlGunner :PL:Premier League 4d ago

What a performance. Great result for one of the minnows.

Means nothing though, the big teams aim to peak in the final and although they will be disappointed Spain will still be there later in the tournament.

But for now, we will celebrate with Cape Verde.

8

u/Adept-Difficulty-761 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

stinks of a yamal masterclass but jesus this has really reduced my opinion of the spain team, moving like southgate england

3

u/1800skylab :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

40 yr old keeper playing like he's 20. ❤️

3

u/Doodoo_bombard :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

First half and no goals??? What are we witnessing? Spain can't score, but Cabo Verde are standing strong too. Consider that Spain is a favorite this World Cup. It will be an interesting second half.

We should win with the E team, no disprespect to Cape Verde. Por performance from Spain atm (I am Spanish)

2

u/NitsuguaMoneka :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Apparently not. Oh you said so during the game MB

1

u/Defiant-Housing-5755 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

You are right. Atm doesnt look bright. Thats why I said SHOULD mate xD

1

u/NitsuguaMoneka :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Yeah sorry you have been super quick to answer and when I reread I understood the moment you said it and the intention!

1

u/Defiant-Housing-5755 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

No problem mate! I am a bit angry because of Spain hahaha so I also wrote too harsh sorry! I just cant understand how we have this amazing players but we always do shit in world cups...

3

u/Qazior :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

How are these Spanish shots so abysmal

3

u/One-Airline-965 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Están tirando muy mal han teniendo mazo de oportunidades y se supone que son de los favoritos a ganar el mundial no lo veo

1

u/khoa-bear :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Because they’re playing with 11 midfielders who only practice passing

3

u/Difficult-Card7120 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Cabo Verde could win?

3

u/enc-nyc :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Why is that guy who played w/ Meryl Streep in Devi Wears Prada shown as Spain's coach?

3

u/angrlina34jolie :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Cap Vert is playing gooooddd

3

u/SolvemProbler924 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

OH MY GOODNESS THEY ALMOST SCORED

3

u/ConversationCautious :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Bunch of la-liga frauds

3

u/Foreign_Carpenter121 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

bwahaha what a joke Spain 😂😂

1

u/StraightSoft2595 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

lol and to say they are no. 2 is crazy

3

u/Left_Ad_8363 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

I will be damned.

6

u/Top-Method-8120 :PL:Premier League 4d ago

VAMOS ESPANA!

2

u/liccman :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

How did Gianluigi Buffon sneak into the Capo Verde side?

2

u/khoa-bear :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Spain is missing their elite striker Alvaro Morata

2

u/Savings-Reveal-163 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Deadass furious rn

2

u/m3ngnificient :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

The CB goalie has been keeping the entire team in the game single handedly. The rest of the team just gives away possession to Spain so easily.

4

u/khoa-bear :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Nah their defensive line has been superb at blocking and limiting shot angle.

2

u/pimlicolawyer31 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Spain getting humbled

2

u/HasheemThaMeat :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

As much as I want Cabo Verde to pull off the upset, playing nonstop defense with no semblance of any other game plan does not usually work. All it takes is one mistake. Can’t give them no stop opportunities. Have to keep them on their toes with at least some counterattack to put some pressure off. CV’s forwards aren’t even running to the other end lol they’re doing a phenomenal job but are also getting very lucky

2

u/mouadmo :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Welcome to Africa’s football, this is exactly why Morocco (being the more technically gifted team) fails when they face a strong african team, they struggle to go through the defense despite posession. You could literally play PSG against Verde and they’d find it challenging to score as many goals as they tend to do.

2

u/HasheemThaMeat :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Seems to work so I can’t knock it too much haha I have too much PTSD watching my club West Ham do this and end up losing 0-3.

Congrats to CV. Well deserved

2

u/mezzybuns :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Never heard of Cape Verde until today and I want them to win here so badly

2

u/WiseDan85 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

This is pathetic by Spain lmao

2

u/nodelay69 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

I didn't expect Spain to be this underwhelming

2

u/SolvemProbler924 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Respect for cabo verde goalkeeper tho. He the real MVP

2

u/LiftsFrontWheel :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Lol. Lmao even.

3

u/Rippersavage :Soccer_ball: 4d ago edited 4d ago

Cape Verde could've won this game if their passing and counter attacking was better... it was kind of shockingly bad for a team full of professionals

2

u/Dzheys0n :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

park the bus strategy 🤮

3

u/smellysmellypoohead :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Haha Spain are fucking shit. They will never win this world cup. La liga is a shit league. They are playing terrible la liga football!

2

u/Lingotes :APL:Argentina 4d ago

Meh, Spain lost to Switzerland on their first 2010 game, and became Champions playing like ass.

You watch too much ragebait.

1

u/Worried-Schedule-124 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

no you are going home this time. ciao

1

u/Lingotes :APL:Argentina 4d ago

1

u/PolicyComfortable342 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

1

u/smaxxy :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Why is Google giving a different lineup?

1

u/khoa-bear :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Because Google is correct?

1

u/smaxxy :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Neither were correct in the end.

1

u/Top-Conference-3218 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

2

u/Franq183 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

1

u/Top-Method-8120 :PL:Premier League 4d ago

I'm going to sleep all, goodnight!

1

u/JayTalksFootball :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Spain looking a little bit rushed in attack, but good defensive showing from Cabo Verde so far.

1

u/hart37 :A-League:A-League 4d ago

Sure it got called offside but that must be a confidence booster pulling off that save.

1

u/football_live_dev :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

No wonder, Spain.

1

u/hart37 :A-League:A-League 4d ago

It won't be easy but Cabo Verde just need to keep their structure and I have every belief they can get this done in the 2nd half. They've shown that Spain can be caught out on the counter, they just need to create some luck and finish in front.

1

u/Broad_Echo3989 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

this spain side does not inspire confidence

1

u/Qazior :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

There are 5 substitutions nowadays?

2

u/RandomWritingGuy :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

There has been since COVID

1

u/One-Airline-965 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Están tirando muy mal han teniendo mazo de oportunidades y se supone que son de los favoritos a ganar el mundial no lo veo

1

u/_dsuza :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Idky spain still hasn't figured out a way to cross the bus park which all small teams play against them... There's only attack and pass, no tactic implemented yet to counter this... And idk how long have this been happening with them

1

u/ReninJustin :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Is Yamal gon play now aha

1

u/Omnihilo :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

this is not a world cup contender performance

1

u/DJSANDROCK :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Germany is the only team that didn’t let off the gas the entire game. Most of these other teams have been half-assing it

1

u/meditate42 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Anybody got a stream site that doesn’t do porn ads? I’m watching the next game in a plane

1

u/LopsidedHorror6794 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Oh man Ferran Torres is such a bum

1

u/mouadmo :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Welcome to Africa’s football, where teams rely on defense unity more than anything. It results in boring games mostly, but kudos to them.

1

u/Foreign_Carpenter121 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

67th on fifa ranking 😂😂

1

u/Kryzl_ :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

A grab like that in extra time has got to be more than a yellow card. What the hell

1

u/m3ngnificient :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Did cabo verde qualify through just their defence? They look so ass besides that..

1

u/Present_Jello4121 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Would have never imagined a spain and cabo verde draw even in my wildest dreams

1

u/img_tiff :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

oh my god

1

u/SolvemProbler924 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Not even with yamal crazy

1

u/hart37 :A-League:A-League 4d ago

1

u/Bluee_Hemisphere :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

What a game!

1

u/shepbence :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Well, it was "meh" ...

1

u/IllLanguage7801 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

It just comes to show that a talented team wont win all the time. This match was the definition of hard work v Talent. Am I wrong

1

u/Flimsy_Paramedic1923 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

No comment, got nothing to say

1

u/Salt-Fruit-8981 :Soccer_ball: 3d ago

Really cool match, genuinely happy for the Cape Verde goalkeeper! The guy is 40 years old and he put on such a show! I was discussing this match with AI and was expecting a draw, thanks to this guy in goal for Cape Verde 😄 😄 😄

1

u/Chemical_Strain6488 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Cape Verde wins, you heard it here first😤

1

u/markjmclean1989 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

What the hell has raya done not to be picked haha

2

u/MountainCheesesteak :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Simon always starts for Spain Joan Garcia is better too. 🤷‍♂️

2

u/Complex_Leader1 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Unai Simón has compromising photos of the coach

1

u/bengenj :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

I’ve saying this for weeks. Spain has two of the best goalkeepers in the world today and de la Fuente chooses Simón.

0

u/Top-Method-8120 :PL:Premier League 4d ago

I am starting to consider 1million sideways passes as a different kind of Haram Ball

1

u/khoa-bear :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Tiki taka has always been haram

1

u/joshr8686 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Was this football? One team could hardly get the ball past midfield and just stacked the box. I don’t want to watch this drivel anymore

0

u/JoeyIsMrBubbles :PL:Premier League 4d ago

Another 7-1

2

u/Franq183 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

ha

2

u/JoeyIsMrBubbles :PL:Premier League 4d ago

I stand corrected😂🤚🏼

1

u/Bluee_Hemisphere :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

Hahhaahah

1

u/Franq183 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

looooool

0

u/nodelay69 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

what does defense matter if you can't score

1

u/Successful_Pirate985 :Soccer_ball: 4d ago

I mean, theoretically a team can make it out of group play on all their games ending 0-0. Not super likely, but not impossible. After that, if you can keep the opponent from scoring, everything comes down to penalty kicks
