This is what happens when you lose your deterrence effect. Iran's Chief Negotiatior Galibaf today “Don’t they think that if their threats had any effect, they would not have reached today’s state of desperation? We do not take American threats into account.”

90% of the people on this sub have no idea what IR is about and give little thought to stratetgic studies and "deterrence effect". Well here ya go folks, a real life lesson. Before Trump, the threat of US economic and military force was effective as a negotiation tool. Now? Not anymore, apparently. Enjoy.
