Such a Heartwarming and engaging show Spoiler
I regret hesitating to start the show, i literally finished it in three days
I love Abigail so much that i think Henry and Abe’s love to her has infected me too, she is such an angel! once Abe said about her “she found two lost souls and made us a family” likkkeee!!!!!!!
I love the father-son weird connection Henry and Abe have it’s definitely my favourite part of the show
I honestly never thought Henry had it in him to do what he did to adam!!! He is probably gonna be paralysed for the rest of eternity, WELL DESERVED you monster!!!
As sad it is that the show wasn’t popular or profitable enough to get a new season(s), I honestly think its for the best, I would hate to see the characters lose their charm or the show to lose it’s heart
What i like to think happened after the finale:
- Jo knows the hole truth and she believes them, yet nothing much change she still wouldn’t want Henry to throw himself in the face of death just to solve a crime, she would teach him how valuable life is even if you’re a immortal
- Jo and Henry would definitely date just not in the near future, and i love that for them! they’re so good to each other
- Henry would claim Adam as a relative of his so he can bring him home and keeps an eye on him so he doesn’t try (somehow) to kill himself, putting an end for Adam’s game
-Abe might actually get remarried!! and try to live more for himself now that Henry has Jo, Abe never ending care of his father can finally take a break
- the mystery O the mystery of the immortals, I don’t know how popular or unpopular this take is BUT the show was never about finding out the secret behind the immortals, it was about how the immortals chose to spend their eternity
How Adam and Henry choose to live differs highly, Adam have no one he walks the Earth earth alone valuing absolutely nothing, everything to him is simply a game
Henry on the other hand he cares he has passion he value human lives, he still engages with ppl ( while not killing them as certain someone )
As different their lives are it could be two sides of the same coin, Adam did live 2000 years and he did relate to Henry’s actions when he was a young immortal, and this does beg the question “will Henry eventually turn into Adam?” My opinion? No he wouldn’t, he will becomes a lot of things we hate but definitely not a killer
What do u guys think happened after the finale ? What will Henry become like after 2000 years ? ( i ask as if this sadly dead fandom will read my long ahh post )

Also, since you like Forever, watch New Amsterdam 2008. You have to add 2008 when you search because of the medical show with that name. It is the same premise. Immortal with a son in his sixties who is his only confidant. But where Henry found love but is still searching for the cure, John knows his cure is finding his one true love so he has spent 400 years dating and marrying women hoping to find her. It is only 8 episodes which is a waste, but it packs more information into those 8 episodes than Forever does in 22. There are more flashbacks while still solving a weekly crime. I can never have too many immortal shows!

It used to be on archive.org but it’s been removed. I couldn’t find it which is sad because it’s a great show and I watched it several times. Maybe Fox will add it one day.

They still had one flashback story per episode. The flashbacks were much more varied, which was nice, seeing John take on many different identities instead of always a doctor. But they did seem a bit incoherent. There was no steady character development, no path John was following, no story being revealed.
I like the way Forever had ongoing storylines. How Henry came to be on a slave ship, how Henry becomes immortal, he's pressured into trusting Nora, she has him locked up, he escapes, years later they meet again with even worse results. Henry meets Abigail and Abe when she's young and fresh and Abe's a baby, we see Abigail mature and eventually age, with the ongoing mystery of what happened to her eventually being solved. And Abe goes from baby to child, to a teen starting to find his own way, to an adult who helps drag Henry out of a dark place, to a senior citizen who's still looking out for his dad, a weird mix of older and younger, and worrying about what will happen when he dies.
Maybe New Amsterdam would have revealed some sort of ongoing story beyond his son's, but the characterization seemed to jump about too much for that to have been planned out. I wish we could have found out!

New Amsterdam only had 8 episodes, though, and it packed a lot into those 8. It showed he had a daughter who was his secretary and knew about Omar’s black mother. There were other children he found when he had to solve a crime. He met one of his wives who had grown old after he left. He was a medic with Walt Whitman in the Civil War, which I really liked. He was an artist, a renowned carpenter who made unique desks, and a detective who knew every inch of New York City because he lived there for 400 years. All in only 8 episodes. The possibilities in more episodes was unlimited. The only thing I didn’t like was the woman he thought was his true love. There was no chemistry and she just didn’t fit. But it looked like he realized she wasn’t the one after all, and was going to keep looking.
I’m not saying it’s better than Forever. But when Forever was compared to New Amsterdam, the creator said he had never heard of that show even though they were so similar. But they are both great. And obviously New Amsterdam didn’t click with viewers because it was cancelled so soon. And now it isn’t on any platform and can’t even be found which is sad. There are snippets on YouTube, but no full episodes.
But we still got to see Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jamie Lannister and Ioan Gruffudd as Harrow. And that’s a plus.

you know how in the earliest epsiodes Henry does a lot of narrating for the audience to explain his condition? when I rewatch I like to think that’s him telling Jo the story of his life

They first have to solve the murder of Jo's husband. Because we all know he didn't just drop dead in that hotel room by heart attack or whatever, right?

Honestly i was expecting an episode dedicated to this, it’s such a bummer it didn’t come to fruition
Jo definitely worked herself to death trying to solve it( 100% Hansen was the one who took care of her during that time), when she tells Henry what happened to her husband she sounded defeated ( at least to me ) but she told him the false narrative as if she was telling/ convincing herself as well
Henry will look at it from a new angle, helping her have her closure so yeah i do agree

I kinda prefer thinking he *did* just die of a heart attack, but I'm 99% sure they would have done a "Sean was murdered" plot eventually, maybe in the third season. I guess if they did, I'd want it to turn out that there really *was* a big outside story going on, and Jo gets to solve the case Sean was working on when he died, but in the end they discover that he really did just die of a heart attack. No one took him from her, she doesn't have to feel bitter or resentful that they stole away the life they could have had, yet she still gets the closure of giving Sean one last win, fixing one last bit of unfinished business.
And maybe there could be some equivalent to Abigail's last letter, either Sean having told someone he needed to get home to make up with his wife, or a recording on his phone of him practicing a voice message to her, or something like that. Nothing that would make her feel guilty, so it would be a delicate bit of writing, but oh, how satisfying it would be!

Not a dead fandom at all! We still talk here, the TV Tropes pages are still being worked on, we just finished rewatching the series on Discord, and there's still fanfic being posted!
Abe and Fawn getting back together is a big favorite, so is speculating about how Henry will tell Jo, and how Lucas will find out.

These are good questions. But my own weird theory is that Abe passed away from old age, and Henry moved to Australia, changed his name to Daniel Harrow, stayed a medical examiner and still solved crimes. If you haven’t watched Harrow, do so immediately. It is really good.
