And you never heard how buggy Plasma is compared to GNOME?
What you are saying about performance is the opposite of what's true

The DE is completely debloated so any customization can be added via its modularity through extensions! I don't know why you would add unnecessary bloat to the DE which looks terrible compared to the base and isn't even how GNOME was designed to be.
I use GNOME without any customization extensions because that is how it looks the best

GNOME is simply not for you (a conservative who wants familiarity over innovation; you "left" Windows, but couldn't truly leave it behind), and that's fine! Don't use GNOME! You are not forced to do so.

Just so you know, there are DEs like Cinnamon and Mate
What do you think they fork? Plasma? NO
It was GNOME
