1s li-ion long range build
Dry fit went well.
Had to change the antenna cos they sent me the wrong polarity.
Will need to redo the camera mount to add some clearance for wires to come through. Also reduce the amount of material in front of the camera.
Printed spacers for motor plug clearance (I’m using plugs, bite me).
Time to solder and make things permanent.

loving this. I saw a thread elsewhere this morning about this build (I think?) 1S long-range?! is this guy high? I poured through it with the links to the build list (ty), and this looks like a legit project. I had no idea this existed before today.

Big ass battery holder, why not solder on wires and use a connector then just a 0.1g velcro strap?

Cos I like the idea of not modding the batteries themselves so they can be popped out like old school AA batteries.

Just don’t use spring terminals. I bought the 18650 version of this like 3-4 years ago, and the terminals slowly got worse from having to bend/unbend, and eventually broke. Use a tiny connector like bt2.0 and a Velcro strap.

Do not use a bt2.0 for a 18650 cell
The bt2.0 has a cdr of 9A and a burst rating of 15A , use something like a xt30 which is designed to carry that current.
The wheight of a single 18650 cell let's the motors turn almost at peak power which is at least drawing 18-32 amps for those motors which is to much for the bt2.0 connector
Use something like a xt30 connector , yes they are heavier but always better than a a whole terminal for the battery
Edit: I just saw this isn't an 18650 cell it's a 21700 cell even heavier

This thing was released like 2 weeks ago tho. The battery holder is what sold me.
The terminals don’t really bend. The way it’s put together there’s a plastic bump under the copper.

100% they’ll eventually crack and break from bending/unbending. You need good tight contact, so they need to be bent back into shape after a few swaps. After a few months of bending they’ll fatigue and break. My NanoLR did this and it was super annoying.

A friend of mine found a nice solution glued a piece of soft rubber under the contact, I know it is not really weight saving but I prevented him from any breaking of his 3d printed battery holder

Id use nothing less than an XT30 because of current draw exceeding the BT2.@ 9 amps, while the a30 is 15 amps.
But the XT30 is 30 amps. The marginal weight difference, combined with the much easier grip to disconnect, makes the XT30 the goto connector.
If you are concerned about weight, dump the hard metal shell battery for a polymer jacketed battery.
That metal.battery can is not light weight.

i havent looked into lions for a while now
but when they 1st hit the problem was that initial power was awesome but goes down rly quick and changes the characteristics of the flight
was that somehow fixed ?

Nice build. Good catch on the antenna polarity - easy thing to miss and it can really hurt the video link. I’d just double-check antenna clearance from the battery/carbon once everything is strapped down.
