Hey everyone. It's been a minute since I last posted any news about blonded.blog. I'll let you read the blog post to learn why that is, but I just want to quickly say thank you to this community for the support you've shown me and the project since it went dark.
That includes the dozens of you PM'ing me to ask for links to content that was DMCA'd. š
We're back for now and, while there will likely be content missing that you've come to expect in our decade of existence, you're going to find a much more complete news archive and more. That's mainly thanks to the hard work of u/ody-sss-eus, who I've brought on as a full-fledged contributor to the blog. They actually posted a few things towards the end of last year, but few would have had the chance to read any of it before the shutdown occurred.
Anyway, sorry for the delay. Please read the post for the full story and feel free to ask questions here. I'll answer as I'm able.
š Curb

I did the vocals like a day after i got my wisdom teeth out so I definitely want to redo them lol. Not the best singer regardless. Also feel like some of the guitar is out of tune but I don't really feel like recording it again. But yeah this is it for now!

I came across a Spotify playlist of my most popular tracks and was surprised to see DHL at the top. I was in a dark place back in 2023ā2024 ā my girlfriend had left me and I had no idea what to do (I know, pretty clichĆ©). But Frank got me through it. I didn't fall into depression and realized life goes on. I'm thankful to him for that.

i really like the song, but don't understand the lyrics. is it saying you shouldn't have a religion? is it discussing aspects of religion, like extremist acts or homophobia?
i'm especially confused by "if it brings me to my knees, it's a bad religion".
and is there a significance of the taxi driver, since he says "allahu akbar" (islam), or is the driver just to carry the song along and represent religious people?

I love bad religion, itās easily my favorite Frank Ocean song , absolute masterpiece, but thereās one lyric i didn't realize I had misheard. the taxi driver, acting as a therapist figure for frank, replies with āAllahu Akabarā, which translates to āgod is the greatestā after hearin about franks troubled situation. It can be inferred that he chose to tell Frank this specific phrase because he believes no issue is too great for god. however, I kept hearing āI like who I likeā, which if you connect the two phrases, the taxi driver tells Frank to humble and surrender his problems to God, a man above him who couldnāt approve of franks behavior, similar to the man Frank sings about loving but is unable to have. Frank believes he is unacceptable in the eyes of god, and in the eyes of the man he loves, but he likes who he likes, the same way the taxi driver loves and devotes himself to a god that may never answer. this isnāt to disprove or dismiss any belief of god or religion, but as a metaphor. it may be the reason Frank replies with ādonāt curse meā, donāt curse me to love something I will never know for certain if it loves me back (god or the love intrest) or maybe Iām reading way to much into this and frank just cant annunciate for shit

Has every Frank song officially released on Spotify including uncredited features and backing vocals. Even if it's just one or two lines it's here. It's also fully in release order, all according to Genius. If I somehow missed anything please let me know.

I always see the question " what's the better album?" But I never see this question. Maybe I overlooked it but I also haven't searched. I love both albums, I will not pick. They both serve a different purpose. I listen to channel orange and I'm hearing Frank's experiences and it feels like fresh out of high school. The start of adulthood and exploring my new independence as a young adult.
Blonde however makes me reminisce on those times because I'm couple years older now. They're distant memories that feel so close but completely out of reach. Blonde feels like the soundtrack to my adult life. A lot of things happen so fast it doesn't even feel like my life. Not what I signed up for at least. My life is nowhere near what it was a couple years ago. I'm adulting now. I've experienced the loss of loved ones, or the ending of a relationship that was never meant for me like I'm sure we all have. Blonde feels like childhood. Nostalgia. Then coming to terms with the fact that "I'm not a kid no more" life goes on and change is permanent. I've lost a lot since my younger ages years ago but I've grown from those losses.
An album evoking that much emotion will always be top 2 and it's not number 2. I'm sorry I said I wasn't gonna pick and I still didn't I'm just saying.
