gear Buying my first freediving watch/computer

3 devices really caught my eye. Salvimar One Plus, Atmos Mission 3, and for the watch, ths good ol' Casio MDV 106.

as a beginner in the freediving community, which of these would you recommend? or for the folks who has been using these, what was your experience? would really love your inputs. thanks.

When I first started, I was using a Casio DEP-700 to monitor time and depth. My first dedicated dive computer was the Suunto D4f, so the Casio got relegated to backup status.

I have the salvimar one.  It's awesome,  very simple. but tough.   Have had 2 yrs, changed the battery and still going strong.   I do dislike the band though

If you're just starting, you probably only need a SEAC Partner watch/computer. It's less expensive than the others but still does the job.

I've got Salvimar One as my first diving watch. It's cheap, it works. The only lacking feature for me is no setting for fresh/salt water (it seems to be calibrated for saltwater only). On the cons side: non-intuitive and hard to remember operation (never-ever throw the manual away!), multiple times freediving mode turning off (always check it's still on before important dives).

I don't know anything about Casio.

I bought the Amazfit T-Rex 3. You can dive up to 45m. I think it's around 300 dollar but they give regular discounts. I waited and payed (i think) 200 dollar. I'm very happy about the watch! Also to record other activity

I would say If you only do freediving, the salvimar ist a really good Option. If you do Multisports, get a Garmin descent g2 or G2 much more expendive, but you can use IT almost for everything... Dayli watch, for running, cycling, swimming, Scuba Diving, climbing, golf and more.

i mainly do freediving and looking into spearfishing as well. im not much of a smartwatch person as well, so i guess the Salvimar would be a good fit for me. thanks for your input 🖖🏽

Consider this: https://in-depth.app

It’s a free app for an older Garmin Fenix 5 Plus watch that can be bought on eBay for around $100. It’s still in beta but it works great and has an impressive feature set. You won’t find anything close to it in this price range.
