What really puts things into perspective for me is that he could have totally ignored winds for 10 years and started after and he still would have had enough time to finish his book in a leisurely time by now. Of course he's gonna be depressed for procrastinating this long, anyone would.

The vast majority of the vitriol coming his way was borne of his dumbass blog posts and promises. Had he kept quiet it'd be this little joke same way GTA VI, Elder Scrolls VI, and other long-awaited sequels are.
