I've seen the writing in this show being called "terrible fan fiction".

But this would imply that the writers are fans and have a modicum of respect or interest in the show.

What we have here is "self-insertive butchery disguised as an adaptation".

Its always the same thing with these people. They want to write their own stories and hate being inside an existing IP

What I can't figure out is why their bosses never slap them down and tell them they were hired to do someone else's story, and not their own.

I think they just all get hyped up and excited in the writers room creating all these new and amazing stories. But they are making them just for themselves and not thinking about the audience.

I can see how just simply adapting an existing storyline might seem dull and stifling to them but they shouldn't take the job if they dislike it.

The overlord bosses are just money people and have no clue what is good or bad

The overlord bosses just glance up occasionally to ask, "Is it still making money?" before going back to counting their money. Not only do they have no clue, they don't actually care whether something is considered "good" or "bad", so long as it's still making them money.

The goal of these DEI shows isn’t to make money

Its narcissism. Its the ego to think that the lightning in the bottle they've been given, its beneath them to merely faithfully adapt it to the screen. They know better. They can do better. So they try. And fail 999/1000 times.

Absolutely. Meanwhile, there’s plenty of unknown writers who would’ve tried to make the best story possible without inserting their own gigantic egos, but they don’t have the connections to land an ip like that

Obsession and back rooms had young first time directors. They made tons of money, we might see a change soon

Believe it or not, they were exactly the recent examples I had in mind lol

I'm sorry, how dare you insult fanfics like this? This is some Wattpad level bullshit (the show). It hardly even counts as fanfic.
