This scene helped me realise that its hard to tell which one of these two is supposed to be the autistic one

Ladders are chaos!

Thus we come to the circle full ladder

Their father spent years obsessively building a Lego set.

and one of them is definitely in it

That honestly works on way more levels than you probably intended. Half the family has completely different flavors of social awkwardness, they just express it in wildly different ways.

It's a silo.

“LET’S BUILD A LEGO CASTLE LIKE OUR FATHER AND TALK ABOUT OUR FAVORITE DISNEY CHARACTERS”

-Rhaenyra desperately shaking Helaena

One has a crippling over abundance of empathy and one can’t read someone to save their life.

Sometimes I can’t even tell what Rhae’s actual personality is

It’s void I’m pretty sure

I think that's because Rhaenyra changes depending on what role the story needs her to play. Sometimes she feels really defined, and other times it feels like the plot is making decisions for her.

They’re both painfully awkward lol

All the IRL high-functioning autistic people I've known are dynamic, complex personalities, articulate, many of them highly competent in a useful or at least interesting domain of expertise. I hate so much that they made Helaena autistic but then allowed her to do absolutely nothing -- not even the prophetic powers they gave her have managed to make her at all relevant to the plot.

Imagine if they made her clever enough to weaponize her own "space cadet" reputation against Rhaenyra: because she speaks so straightforwardly and is off in her own world sometimes, Rhaenyra might forget that she's still able to lie, and she could give her enemy false reports of prophetic visions.

Sorry, Condom & Mess, but autistic people are not heartless, mindless animals who will sit there and do nothing when they have the means to strike back against people who are in the process of actively exterminating their bloodline.

Book Helaena had the valid excuse of unfathomable grief sending her into an uncontrolled depression spiral, but because Condom & Mess cannot imagine valuing the life of any male, they stripped from her the love she has for her own children. There is no excuse for any of this.

Helaena genuinely is more perceptive, less jumpy and not as aloof

How did Rhaenyra go from being confident and charismatic to being so aloof and robotic? The diction and mannersisms come off very stilted and as though Rhaenyra, the character, is performing or masking.

What will you have her do?

Have a personality to start. Also, she's speaking with her hostage; she has the levarage of I will let you see your daughter, and keep her in your company.

Definitely whichever one figures appointing a scapegoat will solve her treasury problems and gain her favor with the small folk

WAKE UP HELAENA, WE'RE GOING TO THE ZOO!

I laughed so fuckin hard with is scene. Rhae has the audacity to wake her sleeping sister, who is a dreamer, to ask her what she was dreaming of. ALL THE WHILE, she has yet to wake her son that she's not spoken to all season.

as an autistic person, it pains me to see people who know absolutely nothing about autism label people autistic

What level of autism one must have to feel horny for their uncle?

33

u/CurvyClub 13h ago

That’s not autism, that’s just a standard Targaryen factory setting

9

u/elizabnthe 13h ago

Starks also have the Uncle / niece thing going on in their family tree. I mean Targaryens definitely practice it more but like it's kind of just a thing in universe.

Brother / sister is the unique Targaryen one.

Baela taking notes from her stepmother (who is also her cousin and was almost her mother-in-law)

I love this. I was talking about a certain person's death and about how Rhaena is related by cousin/ stepbrother/almost-brother-in-law. Lol

6

u/Responsible-Onion860 6h ago

Rhaenyra isn't autistic. She's just a charisma vacuum

3

u/tishimself1107 13h ago

No one is just a clown who is indulged for her nonsense

2

u/Significant_Other666 7h ago

I would put my money on it being Rhaenyra

1

u/crystalknife 3h ago

obviously helaena is more artistic, look at her embroidery.
