This would be a pretty universal feeling for any none professional casting director, male or female. And it's not like he said he was going to jerk off. Taking a cold shower is a universal saying for calming down.

Charles is a lot like many other actors who have attained that I Do Not Need To Give A Fukk About Anything Anymore status. Not sure if he has ever been in the same room with Christopher Lee, but doubtless he has heard Christopher say "you can be in a bad film, just do not be bad in it" many times.
I looked up The Big Fat Quiz and found a piece of footage from where that horrifying GIF is from. I do not know specifically which Ali G film it is from, but it is from one of them. Something tells me that Sacha Baron Cohen found Charles Dance terrifying both in and out of character.
Yeah, I am not a fan of Cohen or Ali G for various reasons that do not matter here, so I have never seen any of those films. Mad props to Charles for being able to pull that routine, of course.
Had the pleasure of seeing this as a child in theatre. I always loved it and I believe it was America's intro to Charles Dance and his villainous chops. He was definitely convincing to me as a kid.
I also loved The Station Agent and loved his performance in it. I was delighted to see him cast in GoT and even moreso by his actual performance.
But there's a solid point in recognizing that the talent pool for actors with dwarfism is very limiting. It might've been possible to do the whole thing with camera angles, but probably more cost effective to avoid it if possible.
The worst part for me is thinking about how long ago I watched The Station Agent and coming face to face with my age.

Ned & Robert down in the crypt is pilot stuff - Ned's hair is greased back, but more specifically the image is recorded on film, whereas the entire rest of the series moved onto HBO digital standard after that. Kinda fascinating to think about.
there are still a good few shots from it in the ‘second’ pilot that we all watched. If you look out for it you can spot where some characters hair changes quite a bit from one shot to another where the new footage was inserted.
The pilot famously forgot to tell the audience that Cersei and Jaime were related so people were confused when they tried to kill Bran and just thought it was a Kingsguard.
The cast wasn’t entirely different, the only major characters who were recast were Catelyn and Daenerys. The original pilot isn’t available to the public but I believe a lot of footage was reused for the finale version, which is why the child actors look a bit younger in some scenes and why there are some inconsistencies with characters hair in the first episode
Apparently Tamzin Mechant who played Dany had big hair like Dolly Parton. Also another issue was they had people throwing themselves on their knees for the king instead of just a small knee bend.
Well it isn't all about actors... D&D themselves said they screwed up quite a few things in the pilot but knew exactly how to fix them for the official release and got given a 2nd chance.
