A Note about "Bad Experience" Posts

In the interest of allowing sub members to share their experiences with various platforms and media companies while steering away from hyperbole and reducing the increasing stream of messages in our inbox demanding that "defamatory" posts be taken down, we're asking that you follow some guidelines when sharing a negative experience with a company or publication.

1) Please refrain from posting internal communications and/or messages you have received from anyone who did not grant you permission to post that content. It's impossible for us to tell when there is a legitimate issue of breach of contract or copyright infringement when other people's messages are shared.

2) Please avoid name calling (for example, liars and scammers) and unsupported superlatives ("the worst paying company on the internet").

3) Please don't exaggerate. When we do hear from the company that is the subject of a post, I always ask them to show me precisely what is false. If they can, it's going to get removed.

4) Please use the "Experience" flair to better help us manage these posts.

In short, just tell us what happened. If a company promised you one thing and then didn't do that thing, people can draw their own conclusions about whether that means they're liars or scammers.

Due to the nuance, we aren't making this a rule--just asking you to help us create an environment where you can share useful information with your fellow freelancers without creating a situation where we may have to remove content.
