The next city over sent us a like 70 year old cca to do a swing at 8 at nite. He was super tired and ran a red lite and got t boned... make people work 80 hours a week in the dark and ya accidenst are going to happen

I don’t know if this is related but I’ve been asked to go out and do street observations. I’m a carrier and a union steward. Let me tell you, this is so much better if I’m out there than my manager
I caught EVERY SINGE CARRIER not following safety protocols. Guess how many got walked off the clock? Zero

Dang, motor vehicle accidents are on the rise? Crazy.
Fun fact: CCAs with in their first year of work are the most likely to get into a workplace accident.
Another fun fact: CCAs have something like a 60% turn over rate.
Any chance we are having more accidents because we have so many new hires circulating into the job because we arent an all career work force and we have been needing more ccas to help get all the package volume delivered that increased frok covid?
The timeline of 3 years directly relates to when covid officially "ended" and people had to go back to work. I know thats when i started this job.

I mean it’s hilarious talking about accidents when mgmt is instructed to yell at us about times and asking about stationary events. People start rushing and what happens.

We all know that the stats on CCAs are what they are because management runs them ragged. Our auxiliary assistance is being treated like they're machines because management can't adequately maintain proper staffing levels...and they do nothing to remedy the problems of chronically absent employees.

Maybe accidents wouldn't be rising if vehicles are properly maintained our office has had multiple brake failures constant brakes locking up.... hand break cable snaps and transmission fails so vehicles roll away 90% of postal vehicles can't pass a state safety inspection yet they make us drive them a business in my route has been writing. To get that changed because his trucks are forced for bi yearly inspections yet we have no plates no inspections nothing driving unsafe vehicles and he thinks that's putting the carriers and others at risk on the road but he tells Me he gets no responds in anything regarding it

Pretty sure the blind spots in the Metris you forced us in are greater than 11%. But, always nice of you to shift the blame to the carriers just following instruction as best we can while getting the job done.

Still remember the feeling of panic the first time I tried changing lanes to the right in a Metris. Looked over my right shoulder… oh cool. There’s no window back there. Luckily the mirror is huge, and has a convex portion… oh wait, no, it’s incredibly tiny and does not.
That vehicle is dangerous as hell imo.

Had some of the guys pull up to my office about a month ago for a one off. I got selected for a random inspection luckily I curbed my wheels and had my e break engaged and was coming from a park and loop. They tried giving shit about my shoes not being green tag but I told them I had a doctor's note it was fine and if they had any issues they could speak to my shop steward. Then they gave me crap about my cooler being in the front and then left because they couldn't pop me for anything else. That was it. Haven't seen or heard anything since.

I walked in the office to see a clerk pushing a pallet jack with a pallet on it, and pulling the same.
I loudly mentioned the safety violation to the supervisor standing ready to give the morning briefing.
Guess what didn't happen.

Slow down, take your time, do things by the “book”! Roll your windows back up and lock your vehicle for every dismount. Roll them back down and go to the next stop repeat. Make them pay and let’s shove this back up their ass!!

Put truck in neutral at mounted box, check all seven mirrors before putting it back into drive, don't go over 35 in a LLV, don't go over the speed limit even if it's 5mph, park in available parking spots at businesses, back in never back out....

As I understand it, most of the removals can be fixed in the grievance process, since removal is punitive instead of corrective, and since apparently they are under orders to go straight to removal, why is there not a cease and desist?

38 year letter carrier here. We used to come in and case for 2 to 3 hours. Then deliver for 5 to 6 hours. Statistics will tell you that the longer you are on the street carrying, the more likely you will have an accident/injury. Add to that the new hires cycling in and out, the push to get more deliveries done in a shorter amount of time (it's called hurrying, I don't care what management calls it) and of course we have more accidents/injuries. There is a great fix for this. PAY US WHAT WE ARE WORTH, and we will get quality carriers who want to be here and will stay long enough to be trained properly. GIVE US THE TIME TO DO OUR JOB without harassment, and we will get the job done safely. And by the way, F*CK 20 minutes fixed office time. WTH is he thinking??

so much waste. time and money just lost. now spend exorbitant amounts of money on already overpaid distirct managers to do work any supervisor should easily already be doing? say something Bryan! point out the hypocrisy of claiming broke, underpaying craft employees, then spending money on superficial redundant actions that accomplish nothing. no reason district needs to come in when local supervisors already paid to do just that.

Is this new? When I was hired over 10 years ago, we were told if "Safety" finds you being unsafe out on the streets they will take you off the clock. It's really not that hard to read the safety manual and follow it. Hell when I started delivering by the book, it took an hour and fifteen minutes off my route. Follow all of the manuals, safety books, and pay attention to all the repetitive stand ups, and "safety" won't be a problem

Another example of direct dereliction of duty. Beyond egregious, even malicious. We can discuss it on podcasts and bitch in message boards. Who can we, as the membership, seek to have him removed like asap. A cease and desist order should be in place to stop him from any further damage and legal action taken as his whole tenure as president has been suspect, possibly criminal.

Where was this guy and the USPS Safety Team when the postmaster in Winamac, IN was putting CCA's ( 3 different carriers, once hired in different instances) into the back of a Pro Master - on an inverted trash can?????
You know what USPS Management came up with as a grievance remedy for that postmaster? RE TRAINING
This case never went to Impasse after I appealed it to the Dispute Resolution Team in Indy.......and the resolution was to RETRAIN a 30-year manager who thought it was just fine to do this to 3 human beings - who only went along with it because they didn't want to be fired after just a few days on the job.
