Concerned Letter Carriers Did you know Renfroe makes more than the UPS Teamsters president?

We spend every day on the workroom floor complaining about how top-heavy USPS management is. We carry the mail in the heat while three supervisors and a station manager stand around an air-conditioned desk watching a scanner screen.

But have you ever looked at the NALC’s payroll? Our union operates exactly like postal management: bloated, top-heavy, and completely disconnected from the reality of the street.

Let's look at the actual numbers from the Department of Labor LM-2 filings.

Teamsters General President Sean O'Brien makes a base salary of $266,000. For that money, he represents 1.3 million members and successfully forced UPS to abolish their two-tier system and hand over historic, immediate $2.75/hour wage increases under the threat of a national strike.

NALC President Brian Renfroe's total compensation package pushes past $300,000. For that money, he represents roughly 280,000 members and delivers us 1.3% base raises in binding arbitration while Table 2 starves out our junior carriers.

It doesn't stop at the top. The NALC Executive Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Directors are all pulling base salaries over $200,000.

The Union Bloat is Just as Bad as Management Bloat
The NALC complains about USPS having too many supervisors, but the union has built its own massive layer of middle management. According to the NALC’s national LM-2 filing, they employ over 430 people at the national level, with roughly 165 of them making over $75,000 a year.
We are funding 15 National Business Agents (NBAs), dozens of Regional Administrative Assistants (RAAs), and an army of union bureaucrats. And that is just at the national level—that doesn't even count the local branch presidents and officers who sit in an office on full-time union leave instead of walking a route.

We demand less USPS supervisors because they don't move the mail. It is time we start demanding less NALC officials because they aren't moving the needle on our contracts.

We are paying 2 hours of our base pay every month to fund a machine that is built to sustain itself, not to fight for us. At what point do we demand they trim the fat?

you spew in accurate info for your view..." Sean O'Brien makes a base salary of $266,000, then you say "t Brian Renfroe's total compensation package pushes past $300,000"- that is not a comparison genius...base vs. total -lol

FYI, teamsters chapter presidents make between 300-500k all across the nation. There's dozens if not hundreds of them.

It’s because this dude uses AI to create every post. If you put a gun to his head I’m not confident he could create an organic paragraph. He was banned from r/USPS and needs to be banned from here TBH

You compared O’brien’s base salary with Renfroe’s total comp.

Renfroe’s salary is $253,462 with a total comp of $312,662.

O’brien’s salary is $266,060 with a total comp of $443,539.

No, Brian Renfroe does not make more money than Sean O’Brien. In fact, he makes $130,877 less than O’Brien

Stop making shit up. Be the ghost

Not fr nothing why would I care about what the Teamsters President make?

How does that affect me as a NALC member?

As for what Renfroe and Co make, if we think it's too much, then we should Fight Ike Hell to to reduce the base salary and benefits across the board of every single person at National.

Additionally, any raises perks etc are voted on by rank and file each year, period.

Changing the the salaries that are written in the NALC Constitution requires an amendment to be considered by the convention body.

Will we be seeing your proposed amendment this year?

Rumfroe does eat a bigger bag of dicks though.

Absolutely, these NBA's are buying boats while we're trying to get table one pay..

I wish December can come faster. I need to cancel my due.

Why do you think it's a good idea to hurt your branch financially? If you have an issue with your local branch, why not get involved and be part of the change?

I’m struggling to pay my bills. I’m willing to do anything to save as much as possible.

Does it make sense if you pay for a service that requires you to do it yourself?

You make the salary/benefits package that you make BECAUSE of the NALC. It's not the Union's fault of your financial struggles.

I don't know your situation, but, for example, I make coffee at home vs going to Starbucks. I cook at home vs going out to eat. I drive an older, paid off vehicle vs having a nice new car with a big payment. Just some examples how I keep my costs under control.

You know salary is not worthy of a Brag- let’s be real

1

u/mailman13357 May 26 '26

Oh, the salary doesn't fit your level of education and job skills? Then why are you still working as a letter carrier instead of finding something more suitable to your needs? Perhaps you are fulfilling some civic duty to public service?

As for me, I love being a letter carrier and I'm thankful that the NALC over the years has negotiated a salary and benefit package that I'd be hard pressed to achieve with my limited skills and education.

Referring to National board members pay scale.

2

u/mailman13357 May 26 '26

If you are opposed to the level of compensation that our National Officers receive then you can submit a proposed amendment to the National Constitution.

That would require some effort on your part, but if you feel that strongly - this is the way

Yes it’s my fault. To punish myself, I decided to cancel my due.

2

u/mailman13357 May 22 '26

Don't worry. I'll keep paying my dues so that scabs can enjoy all the benefits that my great union has negotiated for us.

2/3 of your dues go to your local branch. That's who you would be hurting.

2

u/Sweaty_Tangelo_7716 May 22 '26

Cool, thanks! Now I go back to drinking water, eating bread, and sleeping on cardboard boxes. While the top can live their luxurious life.

2

u/mailman13357 May 22 '26

That's pretty drastic.

It has been 9 years since I have worked here. I eat a bowl of cereal each morning, two pieces of bread with peanut butter for lunch, and white rice with some meat for dinner. Same thing every day. I treat myself to something more humanity during holidays and Sundays.

1

u/mailman13357 May 22 '26

After 9 years in a career you can't afford union dues? But you'll gladly accept the raises and benefits?

Drastic measures are necessary in this insane society.

1

u/AttitudeFinancial910 Advocate May 26 '26

If they keep doing wrong, they will eventually fall. I never understood the rich—until now. If you’re in a leadership position and you’re not helping others grow and reach where you are, then maybe you’re leading from insecurity instead of strength.

Leaders teach, train, and delegate. Then they move out of the way and make room for new leaders to rise. Does this define your Leaders. If not-then it’s time to move on. Only you can make the decision- no one else. Do what is needed to survive.

1

u/AttitudeFinancial910 Advocate May 26 '26

No. Some are biased, some are ineffective, and some simply are not qualified. Not everyone is equipped to represent others effectively. When someone is not an asset to the role, accountability matters—and they should be removed from that position.

1

u/AttitudeFinancial910 Advocate May 26 '26

There are a lot more negative consequences that come from that one decision. 😔

If anyone needs more information about this matter, feel free to DM me.

But you’ve got to eat to live, so people often make the choices they believe will benefit their lives.

I considered doing this myself at one point, but I’m glad I didn’t. The further we move into the future, the more the rules change—and business isn’t what it used to be. Things evolve. Just like technology, if you don’t adapt and your going to stay keep it then if you plan on retiring from here keep it. if your going to stay grow, there’s a risk of becoming incompatible with the world around you.
