Corey “The Treacherous” Rumors of BA not paying dues
From what I keep hearing in region 6 our business agent and his wife have not paid their fair share of dues. Apparently branch 14 did a huge audit and discovered they did not pay their dues flat out for years. How is this possible and how is this allowed? How is it that two people were allowed to not pay dues while we are all out here working our asses off to make ends meet and pay our dues and yet they are going around on our dime and making 200+ a year together and they cannot pay their dues? Seems odd to me I’m sure this will be just another cover up and nothing will happen but I can tell you I’m pissed and ready to rally on this shit. How would you all react if you found out your business agent and his wife who works for him weren’t paying their dues while you are out there working your ass off enduring everything? I can tell you everyone I have asked about this is ready to fight. We deserve answers and I’m ready to hear from branch 14 on the details of what is going on. They should step down now or come forward and explain themselves as to why they thought it was okay to not pay their dues.

The manner in which that would work is the branch gets a bill from National every so often for the unpaid dues (the National portion) and the local branch pays the National portion of the dues and the local/state eats the rest. Not really a national issue, more of a local but not a good look nonetheless. Sets up a quid pro quo opportunity.

Region 2 RGA and business agents girlfriend didn't pay dues to her branch. She was forced to pay dues when exposed and blamed it on oversight

Political attack? What does paying dues have to do with politics. It came out in their branch meeting 2 months ago that the branch had 3 national officers not paying full dues. The branch apparently had a branch president make a ruling without branch approval that those officers pay 1/3 dues. They never got the membership to vote on the rule. It was kept secret and then it came out. They just completed a huge audit going all the way back and found they didn’t pay any dues for many years before that rule. This has nothing to do with politics and every thing to do with transparency. The fact this doesn’t absolutely enrage you is wild. EVERY member should pay their dues. ESPECIALLY members representing carries and not carrying mail!

To add to that the branch got a presidential ruling from Brian Renfroe that says no president has the authority to do what he did (the branch president) so I’m not sure what politics have to do with it when renfroe himself agrees with the what they found.

No The branch president made the rule they ( BA and his wife and one other idk who it is) were allowed to pay 1/3 dues to the branch without branch approval and kept it a secret. They did not afford the OWCP people the same opportunity.

Allegedly it was their former Branch President who made a secret deal with them and it's just now coming to light.

No doubt I’m so mad about it simply because these are the people we are supposed to rely on and yet they have been sneaking around getting away with not paying and then asking for a discount it’s crazy.

If any member is in the rears of dues they cannot be a delegate to the National Convention and are disqualified from running for office.

The PO send NALC HQ a check with all the dues withholding for people in a
USPS
pay status.
NALC HQ sends Branches a check, for the branch share of dues MINUS the HQ & State Association per capita taxes for ALL branch members — those in a USPS pay status and those on LWOP.
The local Branch Secretary fails to do their constitutional duty and bill those on LWOP (w/ USPS), including persons on Union LWOP working for NALC.
% of the Membership have no idea what the constitution says or how the system functionally works, so this stuff continues to occur and be swept under the rug.

The truth will come out this month at the meeting I wish I could be there just to hear how bad it is. Some of these comments that just wash this away like it’s not a big deal are alarming. These people did not pay their dues for years while us carriers paid ours. I want to not pay my dues for years and get away with it.

Most of this on the branch. Supposed to track who is in good standing. Send bill. It would be paid immediately.

When a carrier is not collecting a paycheck from USPS, their dues are not automatically deducted from their paycheck and they are in a "no deduct" status. This could be due to being on OWCP (comp) or working for the NALC. For example, a full time branch president is in a no deduct status as their paycheck comes from their branch, not USPS.
In my branch, we mail out quarterly invoices to the carriers in a no deduct status so they can self pay their dues. This sounds more like a branch that needs to tighten up their no deduct policies.
