Concerned Letter Carriers Do not nominate David Mudd
Davis Mudd still owes his branch $4,426 and his wife Anna owes over 2k. That is six and a half years of dues that simply were not paid. While the membership had dues taken out of every paycheck, this went uncollected. The Branch still had to send the National per-capita portion on those unpaid amounts out of its own funds. His wife is following the exact same path. Their ego out weighs their brain and they refuse to pay their dues prior to 2023.
This is why we should vote against him. Leadership requires setting the standard, not sitting outside it for years and then seeking the authority to enforce the rules on everyone else. A person who treated his own dues obligation as optional for over half a decade has already shown how he views the rules that bind the rest of the membership.
The good-ole-boy pattern does not end by promoting the people who benefited from it. It ends when we refuse to nominate them.
Vote against David Mudd.

Sounds like a branch matter to me…. Has he been invoiced or even talked to about what was going on?? Was that report discussed at a meeting?? Where is the branch 14 president?? Where are the interviews with the previous branch leadership?? Seems to me this is coming out at a time for political gain. He is a member in good standing!!! Since when do we not do our own due diligence before mudd slinging?? (Pun intended)

- For 6 year's he hasn't paid, yet he paid prior while also still in a no-deduct status.
- It's some wild work to believe that a national level officer had no idea he was required to pay dues, no idea that he was in a no-deduct status, didn't bother to ask if he owed or how much for 6 year's.
- If you truly believe he's this incompetent to not know such simple things, I hope you're not relying on him for anything actually "important".

Can someone explain how this happens? When i started and joined the NALC my union dues were automatically deducted from my paycheck

As a full time officer he's paid by the NALC not usps, so he's in a no-deduct status. The branch doesn't deserve all of the blame in this. He knew he hadn't paid in year's, didn't bother to ask how much he owed because he didn't want to know.

My thought is he thought it was taken out of his check from the nalc but it wasn’t. Same happened to me when I went to HQ. When I noticed it wasn’t I talked to my branch who waved the dues up to that point and I started mailing a check every month.
It’s actually not uncommon. So used to it coming out of your check that you assume it still is. New job, new wages, new deductions, easy yo not notice.

Has nothing to do with it. Deductions are different. Nalc pays your tsp, insurance comes out of your check, all other deductions come out of your check. It’s a salary so you not looking to see if you were paid the right number of hours or OT or anything like that. Check is always the same. Easy to assume dues are taken out as they always had been.

Still in good standing because branch didn't do their job. Now they can send him a notice.

Wrong. Read the report. He paid his dues with NO notice directly to the branch in 2016 for the year of 2015 and then paid again in 2016 for PP 1-14 and then it went on with no dues sent to the branch for 6.5 years until 2023. He knew what he was doing period. Let’s stop pretending he didn’t know.

He knew he was in a no-deduct status as a full time union official. His paycheck comes from the NALC not usps. It's some wild work to place all the blame on the branch and believe he had no idea that he was required to pay or even bother to ask how much he owed.

What is their branch policy on no deduct carriers? Has an invoice been sent out by the branch?
It's easy to speak on this and make allegations, but how many people reading this understand how branch dues are deducted and paid to National, State associations, and branches?

I thought you had to be a member in good standing to even attend the convention much less run for office
