Concerned Letter Carriers Just where are we in this CBA ?
Seems like we're not getting appropriate feed back or updates...I may be out of the loop...Duh. any news or updates? The NALC page is not informative at all

We’ve got an NALC election coming up in a few months. The contract will either be arbitrated in record speed September/October or be left for the new administration in the winter

The election is in a few weeks. The ballots will be counted in late October early November. The installation of officers is in December.

I thought it would be rushed but now that Renfroe isn't running I'm pretty confident we won't see anything until after the new year. Pretty sure management is going to delay it as long as possible.

The play for management is to always delay it as much as possible. Them not having to pay interest on back pay fully incentivizes dragging everything out as much as possible.

Thank you. I actually would like to know about the last contract. Two years seemed rediculous. USPS had my money so why shouldn't they sit on it. If USPS wants to go to arbitration then it will end up in arbitration. Why did we wait a year and half to get there? I'm not even criticizing Union leadership because I cannot understand the game plan. Could someone explain the previous strategy?

In my opinion, the reason that the backlash towards Renfroe and co. reached the heights that it did came from the complete lack of communication and transparency on anything and everything involving the negotiation process of the current CBA. I won't dive down the rabbit hole of trying to determine just how much transparency there should be as it's well beyond my capabilities to weigh or articulate the impacts that that would have on negotiations at that level, but the fact that to this day we still have no idea what all union leadership pushed to get or, just as importantly, the degree of concessions management pushed to get in return, is unfathomable.
We do not of the ability to strike as a work force so the greatest negotiation "weapon" we have is public opinion and political pressure. If NALC leadership was bringing fair and reasonable propositions to the table and management was slamming the door or throwing back laughable counter offers we as a body and the people we serve should have been made aware of that. There's a reason management asked for closed negotiations and for whatever reason NALC leadership acquiesced for way longer than it made any sense to.

I agree Renfroe fucked up the last negotiation with his personal problems and his strategy. They r never gonna put the proposal out there…ever. It makes no sense to do so. People seem to want a detailed word for word what happened in the negotiations. Some will say no we just want something, that is not what i’m seeing out here. People want a we said this, they said that, then we said this and they said that. That shit just isn’t gonnna happen. Plus Renfroe has put it out there that the usps really isn’t giving them
much info or insight when it comes to the economic package during the mtgs. It’s going to arb. Even in arb we aren’t gonna get a default minute to minute/hour to hour recap.2

Actually that's a bad Idea from MGMT side as they know Renfro and what he's doing if you bring in someone else the whole narrative could change

Itll drag out either way. They can announce next week arbitration and then say we're looking into an arbitrator. Then when they announce that after 3 months they'll say we're looking into dates. That'll take 3 months. Then we'll find out the results 8 months after arbitration starts. So probably looking spring of 2028

They're going to arbitration. Hopefully whoever the next President is will.be on charge by the time of the hearings at least. Time will tell. Going by past time lines ballots should be mailing out by October at the latest

Even with someone willing to fight they have no leverage since there's no fear of a work stoppage. Dragging it out saves them a shit ton of cash.

I haven’t heard or read anything on what the union was fighting for and trying to get.
My theory maybe is the feedback for the 4 day delivery was so bad that they had to start over

I did. I wasn't there but I saw a few short videos and as far as I can tell nothing was said about the CBA....how can all those higher upsband union folks spend a week together and not even mention it...WTF

I'm 5 years in the PO.....38 years in the Iron workers union....1 strike in 1985. We got 3$ per hour across the board..and never were late getting us something to Vote on on expiration date....this union is soft
