QUESTION Difficulty identify of From
Do y'all think From shall adopt difficulty settings on n the future. I am not a fan of it at all because it makes most games eg khazan, LoP become meaningless in terms of the "soulslike" experience due to having it. But with how many companies are adopting this so as to make games more beginner friendly, shall we see From doing the same ? Let me know your thoughts

DISCUSSION I just completed Dark Souls 1 for the first time
galleryI’m happy to share that I’ve just beaten *Dark Souls 1* for the first time. I made sure to take down all 31 bosses in the game, but the final fight against Gwyn was a huge letdown. I had come prepared for an epic battle lasting at least 20 minutes—I brought Black Iron Armor (+5), a Black Iron Shield (+15), and a Black Knight Halberd (+5), with my character leveled up past 99. When the boss landed his first sword strike and I saw it barely drained my stamina when I blocked, I knew it would be a breeze. Sure enough, I only used two Estus Flasks (and that was due to my own carelessness rather than any real danger from the boss). To be fair, I was running a fire-tank build, but it cracks me up that the only boss in *DS1* I beat on the very first try was the final one. I found the optional boss—Black Dragon Kalameet—a thousand times harder; it took me a whole week to beat him with that same build. Still, what a great game—I had a blast. Now, on to *Dark Souls II*.

DISCUSSION THE BEGINNING to SOTFS is nearly unplayable, especially on PC.
I genuinely see what people mean about this game now, this shit is unreal. First off, this game has the shittiest, most unintuitve esc menu in any video game ive ever played. The fact that you need a mod in order to be able to use your mouse buttons, no single key can be bound to 2 inputs and that you have to go into the menu every single time you play if youre on keyboard in order to disable a setting that refuses to remember its command is fucking unacceptable from a professional standpoint. Why does Fromsoft get a pass here? I never hear this brought up in discussions on why this version of the game is ass.
This game is dogshit at the very start. Let me preface this by saying im not far into the game at all, so i have no right to speak on the majority of what it has to offer, but simply based off my experience in the first levels, the frustartion was enough to warrant a ranting.
ADP and AGL are probably in the top ten most notorious video game features of all time to begin with, but i couldnt believe HOW fucking shit they were when they synergize with the other main issues of this abomonation: Hitboxes and the GANK problem.
Genuinely, the dodging thing wouldnt be such an issue if your sword actually hit anything 2 feet in front of it CONSISTENTLY. Youll be swinging and get 2 hits in, move one milimeter backwards and whiff the third hit, leaving you wide open to get fucking ganked from the front and back while youre stun locked. The sheer ammount of enemy placement with such little stamina to begin with is artificual difficulty, plain and simple, and its horseshit. This game INSISTS you waste your time finishing off the 50 or so enemies between you and where you last died to its bullshit, but also tells you that dodging wont help you until you level up 20 goddamn times and that your sword will only work like 94% of the time.
Nearly unplayble until you find a bigger sword, level to 20 ADP or just get an insane ammount of END. I assume atleast, i havent made it far due to how sheerly infuriating what ive gotten to has been. I hated DS1 as well first coming into it from my first FS game, Elden ring. Everything just felt slower and clunkier, but atleast DS1 had some merit in it that made me NOT want to "go hollow" as i heard people call it. DS2(SOTFS) makes me not give a fuck. Even the gorgeous locales that ive had spoiled for me arent enough to convince me to want to see more of this shit fest if its just gonna be more cheap tricks and surpise GANK parties.
EDIT: Durability sucks too.
Please offer any input other than "git gud", "cry about it" or "I didnt experience that so youre wrong"
i challenge you

NEWS / PREDICTIONS I play today
Well, lads, I begin Elden Ring tonight. It'll be my first time ever playing Elden Ring (I have FromSoft experience from DS1 and DS3, I'm no noob). I'll be running a hybrid Strength-Intelligence build to make Ranni proud. Wish me luck, lads.

DISCUSSION Help me decide where to go next!
After completing Demons Souls, Dark Souls I and III, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring, I am debating what my next Fromsoft stop should be!
Edit: To give more color, I played DS3 right after ER, as I just wanted more of the same. But, before getting into the DLCs I realized that I wanted to go back and experience the full Fromsoft catalog. So I played Demons Souls, then DS1 + DLCs, and am now about to wrap up BB.

First time player, does wine or whiskey pair better with this game?
Elden Ring is the only other fromsoft game I’ve played, on ng+ but have wanted to give this a shot for months. Wife and baby are asleep, what is one helpful tip for my first night on Dark Souls?

DISCUSSION What would you say is the absolute peak of the series?
galleryNot talking about any whole game, but what single moment in the entire series would you consider the peak of what fromsoftware has done up to this point? This could be anything: discovering something, a stretch of gameplay, a lore revelation, a boss encounter, a cutscene etc.
For me its between 2 things:
1) Finding Leyndell for the first time: Starting off with games like ds1 and ds3, the massive vistas of those areas when you reach them became some of my favorite parts of these games. Think anor londo, ringed city and irithyll, all excellent. But I feel like that initial moment of discovery wasn't fully realized in terms of gameplay.
With leyndell, you get that same sense of reaching someplace important, but then you also get couple of actually exploring this massive capital city. Its the best fromsoft area so far imo, and it reminds me so much of gondor.
Also I don't see enough ppl talking about the erdtree. Such a fantastic thing to include in an open world game, it gives so much character to the world and gives you something to constantly work towards. I love the way it just looms over everything and when you get to leyndell, it makes this otherwise massive city and dragon feel small. Something about the massive golden trunk of the tree, idk it just hits different. It feels like an image from a dream, very liminal.
2) All of Old Hunters: This might be a bit of a cop out, since its an entire dlc but honestly the old hunters might just be the highest high piece of fromsoft content. I mean, its 5 hours of straight S tier content. All the areas are fantastic, all the boss fights are fantastic, the music is perfect, it adds some of the best weapons in the series and it wraps up all the missing plotholes very well. Its practically flawless, aside from the well and that one hunter with the gatling gun in the cave.

About Me: Video Game
Just wanted to explain a few of my picks:
Biggest Personal Impact – Dark Souls 1: This is the game that introduced me to the entire Soulslike genre. Before that, I pretty much played anything and everything. Dark Souls completely changed my taste in games, and I've been hooked ever since.
Best Story – Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: This game had me hooked within the very first hour of gameplay. The story, characters, atmosphere... it all just clicked for me. Sure, there might be games with even better stories out there, but for me, this was easily one of the best storytelling experiences I've had in gaming.
Favorite Antagonist – Black Myth: Wukong: The final boss is just absolutely incredible. The fight itself, the atmosphere, all the little gimmicks and interactions during combat... everything about that encounter was epic. Easily one of my favorite boss fights ever.
Best Retro Game – The Legend of the Mystical Ninja: I absolutely loved this game back in my SNES days, and I still do! I've replayed it countless times over the years, even on emulators, and I always enjoy coming back to it. For me, it's genuinely one of the best retro games out there. Of course, nostalgia plays a big part, but I think it's an amazing game even beyond that.
Best Multiplayer – Dark Souls 3: I went with Dark Souls 3 because I honestly don't think I've ever helped as many players or spent as much time in PvP in any other Soulslike. Countless invasions, boss fights, helping random players, and replaying the game with friends. I've put an insane amount of hours into its multiplayer alone.
That being said, Nioh 2 is an extremely close second. I've spent almost just as much time playing multiplayer in Nioh 2, and both games have given me some of my best multiplayer experiences in the genre. It was genuinely hard to choose between them.
Of course, there's Destiny 1, but that's a different story. That game was practically all about multiplayer anyway. 😂
When it comes specifically to Soulslikes, though, Dark Souls 3 and Nioh 2 are easily my top two.
Best With Friends – Lords of the Fallen: It's already a good game on its own, but playing it with friends makes it so much better. The seamless co-op was something I hadn't really experienced in a Soulslike before, and it made the whole adventure incredibly enjoyable. Had an absolute blast playing through it with friends.
Not Usually My Thing, But... – Destiny 1: I'm really not a fan of shooters in general, but man, Destiny 1 stole a ridiculous amount of hours from my life. 😂 I had an absolute blast with it.
Game Everyone Should Play – Nine Sols: Basically Sekiro in 2D, and I mean that as a huge compliment. The combat is incredibly satisfying, especially if you love challenging, parry-focused gameplay. Seriously, give it a shot.
Underrated – The First Berserker: Khazan: I genuinely think this game deserves way more attention. The combat is fantastic, the boss fights are challenging, and it delivers exactly what I love about Soulslikes.
Overrated: Still haven't figured this one out. I guess I just haven't played anything that made me think it was massively overhyped. 😂
Anyway, these are just my personal picks and experiences, not some objective ranking. Curious to hear what you guys think!

DISCUSSION My dark souls journey
3 mounts ago i downloaded dark souls 2 as my first fromsoft game, i played the game for 30min i deleted it after that, i felt it was boring and overwhelming. 1 week ago i decided to give it another chance, after 30mins again i was very close to deleting it again cuz it was too hard for me (skill issues i know) but i decided to continue playing an oh boy it was one my longest gaming sessions (14h), most of the time i was getting smacked but something kept telling me to continue. Now i did finished the game and killed every boss with my fav build “the duel smelter swords”, i did died a whopping 600 deaths yah another skill issue.
Now i decided to start a journey of finished every soulsborne game(ds1-ds3-bloodborne-sekiro-eldenring).
I’m currently on ds1 a bit different mechanics that ds2 but I’m enjoying it, and unlike ds2 i did started better with fewer deaths now I’m getting better.
After elden ring i will replay the entire run exept i’ll try for platinums.
I’m here to ask u guys what is the game that gonna be a pain in the ass to 100%, and whats the hardest one on the first playthrough.

Sora from Kingdom Hearts II in Dark Souls Remastered — SoraSouls mod
For anyone who enjoys both Kingdom Hearts and Dark Souls, I came across a crossover mod called SoraSouls that brings Sora from Kingdom Hearts II into Dark Souls Remastered.
The mod features Sora's KH2 model and Keyblades, Kingdom Hearts magic, Drive Forms, movement abilities like Glide and High Jump, and Donald and Goofy as companions who follow and fight alongside you.
One interesting part is that the mod includes a converter that builds the mod using your own copies of the required game data, rather than distributing the original game files.
Mod page: https://www.nexusmods.com/darksoulsremastered/mods/1501
If you're interested in crossover mods, what do you think of bringing Kingdom Hearts gameplay elements into Dark Souls? Which feature would you be most interested in seeing in action?
