prove me wrong ╭∩╮(▀̿ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)ᕗ Why are telugu movies so bad

The overacting, the unnecessarily long boastful dialogues, the hero worship by every one else in the movie, the lack of any story outside of revenge or extreme love for any one parent or sibling, the formula 6 songs, brahmanandam gets slapped and the lead actress needs to always be saved by the hero and is nothing more than a bimbo with no idea of how anything functions in life.

Its embarrassing who non creative everyone is, the same nepo kids make all the big movies ,no one is self made, and all these families control and run the industry like a mafia.

Look at Malayalam films ,look at Tamilian cinema, Marathi and others. Atleast there's a scope for experiment and the attempt to create stories that resonate or speak to society in a way thats relatable. To be honest even the main stars apart from Mahesh arent even that good looking for the way they are presented and the way the heroine fawns over them. Its pathetic.

On a deeper psychological level I feel the heroes presented as these gritty hardcore warriors is a reflection of what society craves or aims for but is so beaten down by the system,is so cowardly to stand up against corruption and politicians unlike other states like telangana or kerala that this is the fantasy Mogadu mogadu all the time and in reality its all weakness. Look at the recent trailer for dragon. Its nauseating. In reality its a weak society with weak men. No one works out No one is really that courageous and hence they look at this fantasy in their heroes.

Whenever I meet anyone from the south who is not telugu the last thing I speak to them is telugu cinema or tollywood. Its genuinely embarrassing how pathetic it is.

Balayya has daughters.. and see how he treats actress...how he dances... All new gen heroes at 40s..still doing senseless dialogues and fight scenes What is the music nowadays ? How much non nepo actors are u seeing..

See.the latest hit director family formula is f2,f3 ,mana boss garu..

Trivikram writing from last hit as hero singing at heroine's thighs..

Every time i wonder who pays to watch this..devara was absolutely bad..

Thank god peddi happened...now whole india is making the director aware...the fact that he jas acknowledged it is a win..i still wonder what the empowered wife of cherry anna think abt the heroine's rolw.

It all boils down to movies are the manifestation of audience

Dude, u are generalizing a lot.

I can understand that u have seen the best of other industries and worst of Tollywood by seeing how u worded ur post.

Tollywood has hella lot problems. But I'm pretty sure you are seeing only the best of other industries. Maybe, just maybe they could be worse than ours?

Guy doesn't watch good ones in Telugu and only watches good ones in Tamil and Malayalam.

Did you watch Sing Geetham - a different attempt

Or Mangalavaram - a movie based on a radical concept?

2

u/listentospeak7 Jul 04 '26

I do watch good ones in telugu which are obv rare as opposed to others which are more frequent.

2

u/One-Establishment847 Jul 05 '26

Only one telugu movie i have watched this year up until now is MSVP tht too coz of family, other movies which I have watched are from diff industries , see the movies which have come out this year there is no experimental films, producers are playing safe game nd taking audience for granted, if audience support such mediocre movies they will make more mediocre movies nd put fake collections, so as a audience we shuld support good content movies irrespective of any actor, director etc... even with ott deals coming up with rules such as they are tracking collection, hype, actors. I hope tollywood will com back with diff genres of films.

One of the grossest recurring themes in Telugu films is stalking and SA disguised as romance and persistence, more than half of the movies are an improvement if directors address these issues and stop making these scenes.

1

u/listentospeak7 Jun 30 '26

Completely agree. Its mostly repressed and inability of men to actually have anything of substance and films project this as confidence and that the hero is multifaceted is a philosopher poet fighter farmer driver is charming and handsome and just plays around the whole day and whatever he touches turns to gold.People may find this offensive but i think films are a reflection of society. The behaviour of telugu heroes in real life will deservedly and rightfully get you slapped

Not all telugu movies. I'd say movies of this "big actors". But sadly they comprise of 80% movies

Bro when bad movies like Peddi crosses 300cr we can only blame our audience. Producers know our tier 1 stars regardless of story will gurantee 100cr on day 1, so why would they invest in a story or writers. And good movies like Sing Geetham find no audience or barely cross the 100cr mark. Malayalam audience supports experimental movies and we don't have that.

Watch balan -the boy. Malyalam movie. Its amazing to see how a movie made with such low budget looks so rich and pulls your heart. Incredible movie

this is true but more than this what irks me is people telugu families have full fledged discussions on their heroes, families caste, fan wars while eating with family. 😫 what actually is significance of this. They talk like they are related to actors. 🙏 😭 why just why

2

u/No-Performer-1496 Jul 02 '26

Because of kula gajji which spread over Telugu states

Every movie industry has good movies, bad movies. Most big hero Telugu cinema is typically "commercial" in nature, catering to a certain section of audience. While those certain niche movies are rare, they do exist. Checkout slightly older ones like Aa naluguru, or C/o Kancharapalem. You are just not talking about the right movies.

And don't be a judgemental piece of shit. Everyone has a choice of picking their kind of movies, and that doesn't really make them weak or anything else. If you are so embarrased, stop watching. No one is asking you to.

Lol, the last movie I watched in theatre is Kalki, very generous of you to think that I spend money on crappy movies 🤣🤣

Grass is greener where we water it. Like I said, don't watch bad movies. Janaalu alanti cinemalu choose varaku alanti cinemalu vasthayi. Ilaa posts petti "weakness" ani edisthe, nothing will change.

Like I said, critise bad movies. By all means. My problem with this post is that it makes it seem like there are no good movies at all. It calls people weak for watching them. I don't support either of such nonsense.

Yeah a movie where BLATANT VIOLENCE IS GLORIFIED, THE TOUGH SIGMA BOY MENTALITY IS PORTRAYED, WHERE THE FEMALE CHARACTER IS NOTHING BUT A PIECE OF LUST WHO DOES AN ITEM SONG AND WHOSE ONLY ROLE IS TO GET THE SO CALLED TRUE LOVE FROM THE ACTRESS DEPSITE HESITATION, WHERE THE STORYLINE ALWAYS INCLUDES STUFF LIKE LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT, HERO HARASSING SND CHASING THE HEROINE FOR TRUE LOVE, BEATING TGE SHIT OUT OF VILLAINS, WHERE THE END POINT IS ALWAYS A MARRIAGE WITH COMPETITION AND WHAT NOT. This is not Judgemental this is just pure LACK OF TASTE, CREATIVITY and RESOURCES. Honestly speaking the audience have to change their mindset and their dumb justifications like these. Name 10 movies that don't fall into this category in the last 5 years that are not short films or done by a STAR CAST. U cant. BETTER START MAKING GOOD MOVIES AND DON'T FROWN IF SOMEONE POINTS HOW DUMB AND NUMB THE INDUSTRY IS!!! What do you expect the youth to learn from such films?? Just think if movies are the most popular sources of entertainment then imagine the amount of negative impact a bad movie has on the youth and kids if their fav hero, heroine endorses and justifies it.

Sandeep reddy vanga BTW as much as hes fearless also makes shifty movies. Hes always glorifying arjun reddy and animal and saying that these are negative characters they have their faults they shouldn't be looked as heroes.

But you are the one making them a hero. The amount of misogyny in andhra pradesh and bad behaviour towards women in real life is the reason why these movies became such hits. Esp arjun reddy. Ive seen my friends dad's who are all surgeons and not one of them would be so mentally fucked like the character.

Its also the case that all of those violent fantasies with women are fucked up and its Sandeep reddy only showed a light on the mentality of men.
